i posted in the 911 forum, but wasn't getting much response. anyhow, i had my headlights on going to work yesterday and everything was normal. i get back in the truck an hour later, and i've only got parking lights. the high beams still come on, too. the stop/head lamp fuse in the panel under the hood is fine, but is there another fuse or relay or connection somewhere that i can check? or could it be the switch in the dashboard? i'm terrible at making electrical diagnoses...

Look in the column at the multi function switch. What usually happens is that with the movement of the column up and down the wires will shear off at the connection to the plug. The plugs can be repaired by unlocking the connector and pulling the spade out. You will need a very sharp pointy blade to unlock the spade lock in the connector. Once out you can rework the spade and add about 2 inches of wire to fix the flex problem. I have had to do this twice. Once on the main power wire to the ignition switch and just this last week the green wire second from the left on the multi function switch. It is not to hard but take a little time and ease of touch to get it right. I was back up and running in just under an hour both times. ;) Good luck.
