I put a Geno's Bright Box on my 99 2500 a few years back and had no problems.



I decided I still needed more light so I replaced my stock bulbs with Hella High Performance Xenon bulbs. With the bright box on the headlights would not go out. I took the bright box off and now my dash light says the bright lights are on all the time. I can see them changing when I switch from dim to bright. I unhooked the driver's side and plugged it back in now the dash light seems to be working.



I don't know if I have a problem or not, I have been confused since I started this. The process of removing and installing the bulbs was way to difficult if you ask me.



Has anyone else had this kind of a problem?



Has anyone else used these bulbs? Will the bright box from Genos work with the Xenon bulbs?



Is there an easier, better way?

Sportlights Installed

I completed the sport headlight modification; what a difference! I am amazed at how bad the stock headlights really are on these trucks. The difference between the stock and the sport headlights is pretty much the difference between night and day, “literally”. It is the best upgrade and the best $350 I have spent on my truck.



Installation was not easy due to my bumper being in the way (as warned by all of you) and it weighs 350 pounds. On the first attempt the passenger side did not work; had a ground problem. Do not understand why the ground electrical fitting was not big enough to go around the battery negative post bolt. A file and a couple of minutes fixed that. However, it was after a lot of trouble shooting to find the ground problem.



The money and the work paid off big time. I can see at night when I drive, a big help and kind of one of those things you really do need. If you are suffering with the stock lights, do the mod, before you have to replace the headlights to get the deer guts off them.

"The BRITE BOX is sold by Geno's Garage (Dodge Cummins and Ford Power Stroke Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage) The price is anywhere from $100 to $250 depending on what year your truck is.

This is the blurb that Geno gives, on thier site about the Brite Box.



When driving at night in your Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel truck, have you noticed the increased lighting brightness when you pull back the switch to go from low beams to high beams? In the transition you activate a momentary switch position that illuminates both the high and low headlight beams. Likely you’ve driven and tried to keep the switch in the momentary position, but the left hand tires quickly and the headlight switch is not designed for a continuous amperage draw.



No doubt it would be nice to enjoy the vision benefits of the combination high and low beam patterns. The answer: Brite Box! The Brite Box module plugs right into your Turbo Diesel’s existing wiring harness and allows simultaneous operation of the high and low beams without placing any additional loads on the vehicle's stock headlight switches or wiring. The Brite Box goes in-series to your existing wiring harness. Unplug the harness from the light (passenger side light is easiest to access) and plug it into the Brite Box. Take the pigtail plug from Brite Box and plug into the light. Connect the Brite Box positive wire to the battery positive. Secure the Brite Box to the truck’s under-hood. "



Like I said I had mine for a good five years with no problems. However, the upgrade to the sport headlights works much better than the Brite Box. With the sportl headight upgrade there is no need for the brite box. You can do the upgrade for about $350 and it isn't that hard to do. I have no complaints about the brite box. I just think the sport headlight upgrade is the better deal.

The sport headlights with bulbs came from -- email address removed -- and were $204 with about $20 for shipping. The wire harness was $133 and came from suvlights.com with $20 shipping. Harness total $133, headlight total $225, complete $353.

Sorry, can't help with the hi-beam indicator problem, since I have no experience with the bright box product - but for guys unfamiliar with the Sport light conversion in the 2nd generation tricks, here's the Depot brand lights many here use, and what I have on my truck:

While not clearly evident in the photo, this particular style replacement includes a reflector next to the bulb that directs a substantial percentage of light at 90 degrees to the side, significantly lighting the roadside next to the truck - a VERY helpful feature for those owners living and driving in rural areas and deer/elk country, where the ability to clearly see things potentially entering the path of the truck is a seriously GOOD thing! ;):)

All these mods have made substantial improvement in both forward, and reverse travel at night with my truck.

Good luck and you will not regret the money you spend on this upgrade.



I would be curious to know how much they charge you for labor. I am sure that people who want to have this done would be curious also.



As you can see from Gary's great photos they make the truck look better also.



I did the back-up lights like Gary also. (after I seen his picture) you might want to have that done at the same time. Then you can see going forward and backward; what a difference it makes.

The difference between the bulbs (sport 9004 high & 9007 low or reg 9004 low/high) is that one uses the center pin as the ground and the other uses the end pin. the mounting is the same. Make sure your bulbs are in the right spot. Sylvania (automotive lighting) has all the bulbs listed by model & blizzard snow plow site shows the wiring in a lighting section. you will see the grounds change... . white with red striped wire.
