I'm thinking I can get these lights adjusted to be pretty good. They give off a TON more light than the same bulbs in the stock housings but just need to be adjusted down as I have a leveling kit in my truck as well. Once I get them adjusted down I'm thinking they will get the job done pretty good for me. I'll stick with the Silverstar bulbs for now but eventually I may try some HID's. And as I said, the lenses went in very easily for me. I put both the headlight and parking/turn signal bulbs in before installing the light housing and the housings went in very easy for me. I'll take some time to adjust them tomorrow and see what I get. Going to try to get my FASS system in tomorrow too so I'll have to see how much I get done.

An update on me, I sold the 97, have been truckless for a few weeks now, but I think I may have found a '01 that I like. Trying to find the next truck that I will keep for many years to come is like trying on shoes. However, I plan to go with Gary's setup with those Depot headlights. Pictures would be neat though Gary, nudge nudge :)

I always watch the light conversions as well. When I got my truck new in '97 it was not long before I realized that the lighting was inadequate, I could not see ahead of me but I could see everything in the ditch.

I added a set of Bosch Pilot Driving lights (with 100 watt bulbs - I keep the covers on most of the time). We were living in northern BC at the time, the nights are long and the moose wonder onto the roads at night. The options for improving the lighting were limited. The lights are great and I can see a long way down the road but I am careful not to blind drivers coming the other way.

Years later I changed the stock (non-sport) headlight bulbs to the GE NightHawk. They were an improvement over the stock bulbs and did not cost a fortune. There are better bulbs out now but I don't drive at night as much as I used to and when driving on country roads I still use the driving lights.

When my lights cloud over I will look at doing the sport light conversion.

Well, I went and done it, ordered a set of the fancy new style ones with the projector lights. I tried to find the better quality ones out there instead of the cheap ones, they are supposed to be adjustable, etc. We'll see how I like them once they get here and I get them installed. I haven't seen a set in person, sort of like ordering by faith.

I sold the 08, paid off some bills, and bought more equipment for the business. Working on getting to a no debt lifestyle.

I've been out of the professional welding circuit for a couple of years now.

Yeah that is my thought as well. I am sleeping well these days not worrying about chasing a bottom line. I am living with a bit less, and working a bit harder, and enjoying life a lot more. Also the rig welding rat race was not much of a family man type of job.
