Does anyone know if the plugs on the '97 power mirriors are the same as on the '98 and newer power and heated mirrors? Reason I ask is I broke one of my mirrors and am considering getting new mirrors with the heat option if the plugs are the same or aren't a big deal to switch out with new plug ends. Ofcourse, I would add my own switch and relay for the heat function since the '97's didn't come with any. Thanks.

No they are not

They are not! I added the newer style mirrors to my truck. At the recomendation of another member, I cut the connectors off my old mirrors and wired them to the new style mirrors (cut new style off). You just have to run run seperate wire for the heaters anyway. No wires present for heaters.

Do a search on Heated mirrors. You should find the correct wiring line up. If not there is only three wires (heater wires are black) to match up. Same on both sides I believe. I did not add a relay, just a simple lighted switch, powered by cig lighter (off with key).

There are some good bys in the classified for newer style mirrors (98 - 2002).

Late style mirrors on a 97 Ram

I have looked into this some and was wondering if anyone knows if all SLTs (which came standard with the chrome electric mirrors in 1997) have the plugs in the doors if you got the truck with the old style factory trailer tow mirrors? Is the black plastic trim piece the covers the corner of the front window just a cover for the non trailer tow style mirror mount? Has anyone tried to put the regular mirrors on a 94-98 that came with the OEM trailer tow mirrors? It looks like it should work but I don't want to buy the mirror kit and then be stuck with some mirrors that won't fit! Thanks for your help Ken Irwin

vc,

I just did this conversion before the weather turned cold. Email me if you would like the schematic for the wiring.

You can hook up the heated part if you wish with running some wires into the cab and a toggle switch.

BTW - Personally I wouldn't cut your harness off your old mirrors. It will probably hurt resale if you decide to sell them. JMHO.

Does anyone know if '01s w/ towing mirrors have wiring for power mirrors in the door? I'm thinking of going to the CIPA style mirrors since one of mine is cracked and the other was broken in an accident.

TIA

Tom
