Has anyone ever had to replace the heated seat portion of the seat? My drivers side is not working and they told me at the dealer it was going to cost me $1000 dollars to fix! Does this sound right? Has anyone repaired it themself?

Im assuming that you have over 36k and the warranty has run out. Unfortunately,Dodge sells the seat as an assembly only. Meaning you have to buy all or nothing.

I think that the heaters are part of the upholstery on the seat. A while back I had to replace the seat belt trim on my driver's seat back and had to remove the seat's upholstery and I noticed the heaters where imbedded into it.

T4L,

You should be okay with the extended warranty. I had a heated seat go bad in my 98' JEEP. Find out how long it will take them to get you the replacement as I waited from October to June for mine. But that, is another story. BTW I was told it was $900 then. Good luck and throw down a towel to keep you cooley from stickin' to the seat.

Eric

I have the same problem on my early 01 ram. Its out of warranty (43k miles), and when i was at the dealer getting the power steering pump replaced i asked them to quickly diagnose my problem. The seats just dont heat up, the power seats work just fine though. Its kind of wierd. On *some* days it will work, but on most days it will not work.

I found out that sometime in 2001 they changed the heated seats style. I guess in early 2001 the heated seat part was SEPARATE from the seat itself. In late 2001 they integrated them together. I was told from the dealer that it would cost approx. $200 for the heated seat part plus about 2 hours of labor (have to completely remove the seat to get at the part & replace it.

If it were to be the late 2001 part it would be approx. $500-$600 plus about 2 hours labor.

So needless to say, i wont have heated seats this winter! Maybe next year. That, or i'll get an espar heater for a few hundred $$ more!

Been there. Done that.

Had mine replaced while under warranty. I had the 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Was about $900 according to work order.

Good luck.

Hmmm, $500 for a seat fix or $. 79 for a can of beans. I think I will stick with my "naturally" heated seats thank you very much!
