Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) heater core time to change

I had the same experience with the proliance heater core from rockauto. Mine lasted more like 3 months... avoid them (proliance, not rock auto).

Did you try to send the heater core back to rockauto?? They wanted me to send it back to them in the original box it came in... Yeah right like I still have it just layin around...

It's still in the truck. I didn't feel like pulling it during the summer. I'm not looking forward to doing that job again.

I'm "glad" this is here now. My heat is barely luke-warm and I'm convinced the core is blocked with lots and lots of oil from multiple blown head gaskets. I replaced my radiator about a year ago and it was 90% blocked and weighed about 25lbs more than a new one (truck still never got hot even under load)...

Where are the best how-to instructions? I've heard it's a %@%*^ of a job so I've put it off for a couple years. Maybe once I'm done with my fueling issues I'll take it on. Better yet, a BOMB party with extra hands! Oo.

Since my de-fogging seems perfect, how necessary (read also "expensive") is the evap core?

I forget which issue has the directions. The newer issue (there were two articles) is far from all the info you need to do the evaporator.

Mine cost $150~ish IIRC. Rock auto.

If you dont mine no a/c and the defroster is working fine dont bother.

I didnt need a heater core, but I did it while I was in there.

Doing the H core is quite a bit easier than doing both.

The Proliance crapped the bed on me too. #@$%!
