Heater door sticking FOR THE THIRD TIME!

My heater door that controls defrost and floor air flow is sticking again - for the third time! It was repaired once under warranty and then again for the $100 deal offered by Daimler Chrysler (supposedly with improved parts). The last time was 5 years ago.



What are the latest fixes? Has anyone had luck with Chrysler covering this on a 7 year old truck?



If I do this myself, I don't mind cutting into the heater box. Has anyone put a manual cable on the door to move it, instead of relying on the electric motor? If one were to drill a hole in a strategic spot, could a wire be inserted to nudge the door so the motor takes over?



I haven't seen a lot of talk on here about this problem lately, so I assume the later trucks have an improved system.

Doesn't anyone know the latest news or repair for the heater door problem? This is a VERY common problem on the early 3rd gen trucks. I need to get mine fixed.

Why do we Americans who spend countless tens of thousands hard earned $$$$$$$$$$ constantly get ripped off by products that are ENGINEERED TO FAIL ?#@$%! Is it not bad enough we have sold our soles of this nation to our enemies, the Chi-comms etc. ? Can't Americans make cars and trucks that last more than a few thousand miles or a few years ? Who is it that sits there all day long designing this **** ? Can't we get away from this BUILD IT CHEAP AND THROW AWAY MENTALITY?



I have owned three factory ordered rigs to date and I will never by another brand new vehicle EVER again UNLESS, I get a 250,000/5 year bumper to bumper NO QUESTIONS ASKED guarantee. . And even then, I will NEVER go to the stealership for repairs. .



I know, in my dreams!!



Sorry for ranting but I'm just disgusted with how American vehicles have become. . Even the new 6. 7's are crap!!
