Fan motors do fail every once in awhile. The best place to get one is a u-puul-it yard. 1500-3500 fans are all the same. I bought mine, with the resistor for $7. If that is not an option, many of the parts houses carry them.
I would get thatfan motor out of there pronto! It is failing (armature hanging?) and the next stop is a well-cooked resistor block (due to increased stall current and decreased airflow cooling the resistors). The fan motor should be avail local big box autoparts stores but you need to swap out the blower wheel and possibly splice in the harness plug.
Does the motor cease to run or does the air just quit coming out? If the motor is bad enough to stop while on It should be blowing a fuse. Do you live in a high humidity area? Sounds like maybe your evaporator is icing up, maybe from low charge or bad clutch cycling switch. bg
