Guys: Today the air heater grid/element stuck on and did not cycle on and off like it's supposed to. I shut off the truck and restarted immediately and this kept the heaters off, but what should I be looking for? Are the relays sticking? Are the grids toast? I'll try disconnecting one relay and try to isolate the problem tomorrow. Anybody had this happen? Comments welcome. Thanks.

Jerry..... I would check the two solinoids on the drivers side fender that power the grid heaters. One that fail on me caused the grid heaters to flicker on and off constantly. I think if you remove the whole mount holding both solinoids and shake it you should NOT here anything rattling. One of mine rattled. These are about $60 to replace.

The other thing could be the relay on the firewall. This is pretty cheap too.

As an alternative to paying DC $60 or more for a new pair of relays, take a look at:

In a nutshell, I replaced the OEM relays with a pair of Stancor relays. They're similar, but different. These sound better, and they're still working fine after several months. I have no idea yet how they'll work long-term.
