won't run to well when its cold if at all
is a race part only i asume and by the looks of your sig your not only racen but it does look cool in that blue.

Looks good, build quality looks great. But why do we need one of these? I can see if you live in the desert, but doesn't the truck need the GH in cold climates? And wouldn't it set a code if it's MIA? I know when my '05 was brand new, I started it a couple times in the dead of winter before waiting for the GH and I set a code.

RJ- Mine has not set a code. Sac is pretty hot most the time, right?

Adam has had his on his 01. 5 for the last year and hasnt set any codes. He ran it in Tahoe this winter when it was 33F with out a problem. Took a little longer to start.

Cody- hey its not BD right:-laf, No im not a race only, but a daily driver. But air flow is the name of the game right? every little bit helps. If you have a intake and high flow filter, why choke it down at the heater grid.

BTW it took about 10 mins to swap so you could run it in the summer and put your HG back when it gets cold.

That heater grid really restricts the air flow. I've been thinking of pulling mine out. We don't get to cold out here in So. Cal 30's. I cranked mine right up with out waiting for the grids to heat.

I HAVE ONE FROM POOLE I STARTED MY TRUCK IN 25 BELOW WITH ONE BATTERY IT DIDNT START WELL BUT IT STILL STARTED, NO CODES, STARTS AND RUNS FINE DOWN TO ABOUT 10 DEG JUST DO IT ITS A NICE LOOKING MOD..... :-laf

Other then the guy selling this part, has anyone dyno'ed more HP with on of these?

17hp for $70... . maybe.

that is a lot "crap" in there with that grid heater.

unless your running a straight up race truck without an intercooler, this is probably a waste of your money imho...

explain, your injection pressure is way more at cranking speed than that old tractor 12valve and even alot more than a vp-44 24valve, you dont need a grid heater on your truck unless it is really cold, or your truck gets emissioned in cool weather or you have a 6. 7 with the regen process... .

I've always let the grids run. . Why not? I never understood why everyone is against the "grid heaters" cuz they are part emissions.

You are not gaining anything by removing them permanently or unplugging them during the cold months. It's just going to get your stranded.

However, summer months 40 degrees+, yeah, they are more of a restriction then anything.

I'd rather have the motor start and run on all 6 cylinders then 1 or 2 for a while IMHO.

Go ahead, shoot a can or two of either once or twice a day in Alaskan temps all winter, lets see how long your motor lasts... :)

Tho, my work I can plug in. At home, I leave the truck plugged in. I may get a dozen cold-ish starts all winter. :)

i dont know what everyone is freakin out about, my truck starts and runs on all six at 10 deg and the 24 valve wouldnt start at all with a completely stock motor, the common rail will start at 25 below zero without ether so i dont know what you guys are talking about, if you have to start your common rail on ether you have engine issues, the grids on a common rail are more for emissions which i dont have to go through therefore i dont have grids, so to each his own grids are for girls jk hahaha:-laf

I'll bet you $$$ that you could not get a CR to start at 25 below with out a block heater or grid heater. Heck, I don't think you'll get a cold-soked (12+ hours not running) CR to even start at 10 degrees on the first crank.

They are not just for emissions.

well for those of us who live in warm climates whats the need for a restictive heater grid. Since ive owened a CTD (5 years) ive only started mine in less than 40F a handfull of times, never any problems.

So for me if it gives me 17 HP or 2 HP it looks nice and clean.

, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU, MY TRUCK ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHERS IN MY AREA START YEAR LONG WITHOUT THE GRIDS AND NO ETHER SO TO EACH HIS OWN.....
