Driving down the road I started getting a high pitch whine, loud enough where people behind me could hear it. Almost sounded like a siren and was directly linked to the throttle, as soon as you let off on the throttle it would stop. It started about 1500 RPM and would not do it sitting in neutral and reving. I stopped at my dealer and after a test drive said the heater grid solenoid was loose. They retorqued it and the noise went away. Could someone tell me where this is located and how it could result in that type of noise?

Thanks, this board as been a real eductaional experience for me.

That sounds like the "hole in fam belt" story. :) The heater grid solenoids are located under the drivers side battery on the fender well. More than likely what was loose was the four bolts in the air horn flange which sits on top of the heater grid and holds it in place. That could have allowed air from the turbo to escape and make a noise. bg

My HGS's are mounted on the inside surface of the passenger side battery tray, but I totally agree with your reasoning about the intake horn leak :).
