Heater Lines Flow Direction

Do I have this right? Fluid flow to the heater core inside the cab comes from before the thermostat and gets dumped into the block...?

If it does that, then how does one circulate heat when the t-stat is closed?

It's a closed circuit. It is not dependent on the t-stats position, like it uses just the water in the engine to go to the heater core and back to the engine for reheating.

If you have those lines off blast each end of the heater core with a garden hose. Lots of crud will come out.
