This knob made of cheap plastic has broken and wont turn the shaft to change the defrost to heat positions . Im wondering how many different Dodge vehicles this knob is common with . My kids practically live at Pic N Pull so finding one shouldnt be difficult . Arnie
All 2nd gens up to 97 I think are the same. I really doubt if you could pull one off without damaging it. When mine broke the local dealer had one in stock (almost a first!) about $12 IIRC.
I just had this happen on my '95. I fixed the cracked base by wrapping it with a dozen turns of dacron fishing line and then soaking the line with a few drops of super glue. Works just fine now. Maybe good for another 10 years.
YOU can also get some high priced billet knobs on EBAY.
Land Shark . I was thinking of a similar thing using fine copper wire and super glue . The glue will probably soak into the Dacron better than copper. Arnie
Well i wrapped it with heavy thread and super glued it and its working so far . I was going to try the after market knobs before going to the dealer if this didnt work. Arnie
I read on an earlier post about someone fixing a broken knob by slipping either poly tubing or copper tubing over the broken base after super gluing it. Another project to add to the ever growing list of "To Do" items.....
Hey you are down In Lodi! I went to Tokay high School. I guess you are far enough away to tell you my secret: I have found the same exact knobs in the same and close to the same year dodge intrepids. I have about 6 extras in my glove box. You won't find them in a Dodge truck in a wrecking yard, as you know
