Evening all,

Today I replaced a couple dead instrument panel lights, including one behind the heater control (upper bulb) on my '96 (a/c equipped). On the way to Wal-Mart, I noticed the vaccum hissing from behind the panel, and realized the vents were stuck in the defrost position. The knob moves freely. Hopefully I will have time to tear it apart tomorrow; but in the meantime, any ideas or suggestions on how to troubleshoot it would be greatly appreciated. I am visiting my mom in St. Augustine, FL, and naturally forgot to bring my service manual. I would like to get this fixed before I go back to the snow country.

Thanks in advance,

Brian Z.

Simple, You knocked the vaccuum line off the back of the control head. Defrost is the default position. Heater control snd suto trans cruise control are why our trucks have a vaccuum pump.
