Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting New Gun to Me

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting .308 Builds

I have always had my weapon safe inside until I upgraded to a bigger size that will not fit in the house. :)

The safe now is permanenly in the garage. Should I keep the dry rod dehumidifier plugged in during the summer months? I also use the desiccant packs.

What are my best options to fight the rust battle?

take all the guns out once or twice a year make sure everything is clean and oil everything. crap on the guns will attract water, oil will repel it.

Shoot them frequently, clean them often, and keep them oiled. Living in a dry state helps too. :-laf

I have one in the garage with just dessicant in it. No rust probems after 6 years now. I keep them oiled up well.

Just what I use it seems to work NO RUST and it supposedly lasts 10 years safes are inside house so I dont think they need heat. When it gets wet recharge for a day or so and good to go again.

No its got a rechargeable battery it plugs into 110 for a 12 hour period and then last for like a month or so then you recharge again. That's one reason I got it the Gun safes are in the bottom floor of the house (Basement with out door access) the wall that they are against there is not an electrical outlet. Plus im on solar power so I really didn't want a constant 110v drain on the system. Im guessing they work because the moisture indicator goes from dry to wet and then you recharge it and it goes back to dry. During the summer naturally it lasts longer than during the winter less moisture i'm thinking in summer.
