I have to replace my water pump, its locked up. I plan to convert to WVO. Does anyone recommend a heavy duty replacement water pump?

There's no such thing as a HD water pump for the B-series Cummins I'm aware of. The stocker is a good pump, so just replace it. They run about $60 and are a snap to replace.

I agree with Vaughn, i don't think there's a HD pump available, and using WVO should make any difference on the needs of the pump. . imho...

I haven't come across anything either. I've found them ranging from around $40-$70. Is there a brand to stay away from or are the cheapest just as good? I've read that the NAPA models are pretty good, some recommend Cummins. Running WVO will mean the water pump is pushing water through almost 40 feet of hoses going from the engine/radiator, through the fuel tank, & back.

I think you can get different setups which will alleviate this -- like a heating element and different circulation setup. what wvo setup are you looking into ?

I'd skip a reman and just buy a new pump, saving $15 isn't worth it. I paid $60 at autozone for a new one, a reman was $45. New one has lifetime warranty, reman has one year warranty. It's a no brainer! Or you can just get one straight from cummins, might cost you more though and won't have a warranty.

I found one locally. Didn't check on a warranty. My mechanic got a discount for me. Regularly $126, go it for $47. New instead of rebuilt. Can't remember the name exactly, something like Federated. When i first glanced i thought it was a Federal Moog part, but it wasn't.

I don't know what kit i might use for WVO. I think i'll just pick & choose what pieces i think i'll need & put it all together myslef. In tank coolant heater, inline heated fuel filter, maybe some heat wraps on the fuel lines. Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Matt

I haven't used these guys' gear, but check 'em out. www.greasecar.com

i read elsewhere here that some are dumping in strait screened wvo into their diesel tank, like 5 gal to 30 of diesel. Have you heard this, or anyone else? Seems like a foul idea to me... ...

Wvo

When i was down at BTS, they had a 12 valve Dodge in for work. The owner had done just that, mixed in straight WVO with #2. No filtering between the tank & engine, just dumped in a mixture. No preheating. They didn't say what had happened, but something went very wrong because of it. Only about 20% veggie.

I've come across at least a dozen companies that offer conversion kits. I won't mess with it for a while.
