Hey guys:

About a week ago I hauled my new (to me) John Deere 4020 home with my 1992 W 250 and a dual axle gooseneck trailer, talk about a load! The ole Dodge just acted like she didn't want to move. My truck is a 5 speed with 3. 54 gears. I think I could've done better if I would have had maybe a dual tandem axle trailer or at least a tri-axle. I guess I just didn't realize that tractor was that heavy.

So, let's hear it. What are the "good size loads" you guys have had on your trucks before.

I towed my largest load last weekend to date. 19000lbs of "Massey" tractor and 30' gooseneck trailer w/ a hay cutter behind. I just got the GN hitch and was trying it out. Have a 2000 diesel 3/4 w/ 5speed and 3. 55 gears. Had to stay in 4th gear on the hills. :) :)

OMG that is a huge tractor... or was that your Gross weight?

let me see... . 7K of truck, plus at least 4K of trailer to haul that 19K tractor/mower = 30K... ... not quite legal!

I can see 19K gross, been there with a MF 360 4x4 (all four tires loaded with CaCl) with Front end loader and hazard mower on the three point

That was a rotorary cutter -3 point hitch mount on a 85 horse Massey. I am told this tractor has more power (torque) than newer model 85hp tractors. It has wheel weights and Cab. And yes I did not count truck weight -that is probably 7500lbs. The trailer is a dual tandem axle w/brakes on both and rated at 20000lb plus. It was a whole lotta load but I was very impressed w/ how stable the ride was. I normally pull bumper mounted trailers up to 12000lbs.

P. S. I just realised I didn't make that clear: Tractor =10 -11klbs + cutter 3klbs + 6600lbs trailer. So 19. 5klb to 20. 5klbs + truck 7500

85HP... that still is a big tractor... I think the 360 is rated at 52 PTO hp. It has 11. 2x20 tires on the front and 14. 9x28 on the back.

Let's see

How about 13 2,200lb bales on a tandam dual gooseneck. :) that is 28,600lbs just in hay. :D I've hauled are dozer that's about 13,000lbs. :D Are 4440's those are both about 16,000lbs apeace with saddle tanks. :) Those are just a few things I've hauled. The trailer is rated a 25k so I've even been over that too.

Just a day on the farm I guess. :p We bought a semi tractor this spring so my heavy haulin days are done unless I just feel like streching the Cummins legs again. ;) Oh yea the semi has a Cummins in it too. :D

One time...

I loaded a 33' aluminum livestock trailer on a dual tandem goose neck. GCVW of 21,000 (give or take). Hauled it 250 miles home. At 8' wide and 15'2" tall, the wind resistance was so great that I had to ADD fuel going DOWN a 6% grade to maintain speed.

End of story, I tore the trailer all apart and am in the process of aquiring the rest of the parts to build my own gooseneck stock/horse trailer.

I have towed higher grossing loads, but none of them over 50 miles.

Well I have a dual tandem, 40 foot gooseneck. Largest load on the trailer was 30,000lbs. It was a heat exchanger used in the plants down here in louisiana. Just gald I did not have to go far... ..... 30,000 load + 15,500 truck & trailer weight = 45,000lbs... .
