Slide in motor adjustment

Height of 4X4 for 5ver

Has anyone towed 22000 GCW with the new HO and 48RE? With or without exhaust brake? Thinking about a new tow rig and want an auto this time. Have been looking at Chevy and Ford but the 23000 GCVW of the Dodge is the only one that exceeds my truck / trailer combo. I noticed that 1st thru 4th are really close to 2nd through 5th on the Ford and Chevy.

Get your wife a "short shift" from B-D:-laf

Seriously, let her test drive a 6, the new power adjustable pedals can be moved back for her comfort and safety. It may work.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Call the two major transmission rebuilders and ask them. These guys at both places are REALLY smart in the transmission dept. They can help you decide if the 48 will or will not do what you want.

Read the forums to see what hp you need to tow that weight.

I am going to put $5k into my 47 and another $2k in to hp and exhaust brake to tow what I want.

SILLY me, I believed the DC literature!

ASK those who tow the weights you want to tow FIRST!

I didn't mind the shifting with my '98 5spd. What did get old was the bucking and snatching with spring wrap-up while maneuvering the 5th into a camp site or up into the yard by the house. Our standard output Cummins with 47RE and 4. 10 rear end tows our 10,400 lb high profile 5th wheel 70mph with rolling hills calling for full throttle but it maintains speed. Over 3. 5% grade calls for 3rd, 58mph, and 2900rpm with power to spare. To me this is acceptable. I would think if my 17,000 lbs+ setup performs well, a HO/48RE with 4. 10 should also perform well with 22,000 lbs. I definately know the weight is back there in all but steady cruise on flat highway. It's alot of weight and a big front. The amount of time I'll spend climbing grades is minimal so I'll chug along with the 18-wheelers when I do. I guess it all depends on how fast you want to get up the mountain. It sure is nice a quiet compared to the last three... :D
