Does anyone have a rundown of what parts on the new Dodgeo's are made in Mexico? Is the Cummins made in Mexico? Are any components of the Cummins made in Mexico? I am looking for components to convert my 1977 Ford to Cummins power and would like to know what years the Cummins motors were manufactured in Mexico so I can keep my American truck all American (North America isn't close enough I guess). I am looking at buying a new '04 HPCR off ebay.



Dodge fell of the list of trucks I would consider for purchase when they started building them south of the border. As did Chevy with the Duramax. It's a sad state of affairs. I would hope that the major components of the truck are at least built here. I have a VW de Mexico Jetta TDI-the only diesel car offered in the US at the time (circa 2000). I am still waiting for a US-built diesel auto, the CRD Liberty is a little too cartoonish (I bet Roger Rabbit has one) for my taste.

Yep, you got me. I'm a total racist because I try to buy products that are made in the USA??!! Have you looked at the unemployment rate in this country? How many American jobs were lost when Dodge took it's business to Mexico? It's easy to blame our government, but it starts at home. I try to support the economy of our country and thereby increase demand of US manufactured goods and that makes me a racist?? Fascist, maybe, but not a racist. Wow, good to know. I guess I will stop trying to spread my racist subliminal messages on this forum now that I've been exposed.



I am very interested to know where the components are made, regardless. I know all of the big three are making and buying parts outside the USA. If anyone wants to answer the question, feel free.

1. The Cummins engine is manufactured in Columbus, Indiana. Components are made all over the world.

I met the people the other day that have the contract for the in tank pump, and gauge sending unit..... for about 80% of the Chrysler line including our trucks... . as new models roll out they will have the contract for those as well... .

I can tell you this much...



That starting in 06, some RAM HD's with cummins were built in the St. Louis plant...



SOOOO, not all RAMs with cummins are built in mexico...



As well let me add, as of 2005 (the last time I attended a meeting) - the "errors per unit" was LESS on a mexico-built truck. (although STL plant was rapidly catching up)

AND the paint is considered to be better quality (on a mexico-built truck)

Why do you not care if its built in Canada but you do in Mexico, either way its still not made in the USA, you contradict your self.



It will be impossibable to bulit a 100% made in the USA truck. There is close to 1 Million indvidual parts in our trucks, down to the zip ties, hose clamps, hoses, wires, carpet. ect.



Its all about cost. As long as its a US product it was mainly designed and engineered in USA and all the product formulas need to be followed reguardless of where its assembled. No such thing as Mexican paint... .

But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship



hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.



The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise,



and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss.



Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of



Mourning, which they still observe to this day.



The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known,



of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

I firmly believe it is in our best interest for Mexico to have a strong economy. I'd rather have my truck made by a bunch of legal Mexicans in Mexico than by a bunch of illegal Mexicans in the USA. No racism intended.

I don't recall writing that I didn't care if something was made in Canada. I asked about Mexico because the door jamb tag on Dodge trucks says "HECHO EN MEXICO". I was just wondering if the Cummins was also being built in Mexico. I read a post about Mexican Cummins block castings. I was also wondering about the axles. I know they are built by AMERICAN axle manufacturing, but the name doesn't necessarily mean they're being built here. The new Aisin trans is apparently going to be made here, by an aisian firm. Their transmission's have been used in Jeeps for years. Of course little parts are made all over the world, and everybody knows electronics are made overseas. It's obviously cheaper to pay the industrious citizens of Mexico a few bucks an hour than it is to pay American citizens 20+ dollars plus benefits, retirement, etc. It's one of the reasons Dodge trucks are so competitively priced. I'm not sure if you caught it, but I own a VW Jetta that is also built in Mexico. I never said I wouldn't be willing to buy products made in other countries, but if given a choice of similar products, I will pick the one made here.



An interesting side note: My daughter brought home a school book the other day. The book was about the 50 states. On the page devoted to Michigan was a picture with a caption that read; "Most American made cars are manufactured in Michigan". The photo was of a 90's model Toyota Four-runner!

when Nissan introduced their bigger truck a couple years back and pounded their chest about being made in USA Detroit News ran a article about "made in"/ "manufactored in"/ "assembled in" terminolgy. They gave some info that shed some light on what percentages of each truck brand was manufactored [ all parts actually made here] in the USA.

Dodge trucks are 93. 7 percent manufactored in US but 2500/3500 trucks are final assembled only in Saltillo, MX.

Ford trucks are 91. 3 percent manufactored in the USA.

GM trucks are 89. 8 percent manufactored in the USA.

All Toyota and Nissan trucks were less than 30 percent manufactored in the USA but had final assy in the US.

The rules were changed to allow the Jap. trucks to say they were made in the USA.

There is nothing wrong with having pride/preference for a product made here at home. Unfortunately, none of the Big 3 can say that an order won't be fulfilled by a factory in Mexico...
