First contact with another vehicle - Rant

Well, I finally put the heli back together. It was apart due to a crash last fall. I lost control (I am still learning) and sent it into the ground. It had a boom strike, main rotors flexed and slapped the boom, breaking it, the tail rotor case, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, landing skids, bent flybar, etc. Finally put it back together and flew it a couple times but blade tracking was awful.

Then I started flying and the carb o-ring on the high speed needle started to stretch and leak. Found an o-ring at the hardware store that will do until the ones I ordered get here.

Took it apart again this past Sunday night after I got the engine back up and running a bit. Decided to see if the feathering spindle was bent. Took apart the top of the rotor head and sure enough, spindle was bent probably an 1/8th inch. That's a lot considering the spindle is 3/16 inch diameter and only 5 inches long. Went to put it back together but I stripped an allen set screw in the flybar pitch arm. Decided to drill it and borrow a screw extractor from work to get it out. Worked!

Anyway, got her back together, got all the stuff level and equal lengths, charged the Tx and Receiver batteries and now just waiting on the o-rings.

Feels good to fix something and get it right, although not on the first try. I should have her flying the next time I have a few hours to spare!
