Competition Time to go sled pullin'!

Competition Info and Updates on Dave Mitchell??

I stepped out a while after realizing we were at a dead end with the truck. It's now late in the year and we're making plans for next so here I am again.

Totally bummed it won't run right with the amount of money I put into it. We "pulled the plug" until we know what direction to go. new engine (?); gut the fuel system and put in a p-pump (?); something. Seriously -- with the amount of $$$ I put into the fuel system I could have purchased an old 12V motor and built it to win.

Power goes flat at 2400rpm and we have it cranking to about 3400rpm and we know it isn't running out of fuel ... that's a LOT of wasted HP.

Starting to get back into it since we want to compete again in 2007 _IF_ we can figure out how to make it run right.

If not... anyone want an insanely clean and strong running 2003? Only 68,000 miles on the odo and it's still tight. Put a muffler on it and use it to pull your RV. (Seriously!)

Then I can go buy a 12v and run to win.

HOWEVER... I would **LOVE** to get this 3rd Gen running right. All opinions on how to make that happen are Welcomed!

The puller: Silver Bullet Turbo, 200 gph FASS, Capped Rail, Aggressive F1 Injectors (stage 3+), Ind Inj Stage 2 CP3, Scheid Aggressive Street Cam, 3850 SBC DD, Comp TST, Edge Comp, Smarty, dynoed for best settings mix of those comps.

----

Initial impression was we were running out of rail pressure. . BUT. . even with STOCK settings the power is flat at 2400RPM. No comps, nothing = flat dyno at 2400 RPM. You'd think if rail pressure were an issue running -no- fueling increase would mean pressure to spare but still goes flat at 2400RPM. Which leads me to believe something in the PCM or ECM is cutting it out no matter what (?).

It's -very- annoying because with all the adjustments on that truck the dyno line is nearly vertical. . giving you a -taste- of what it can do... then FLAT LINE. (sob)

Maybe the CP3 doesn't work right? I just know I can't drop $$$$$ on another one.

(I'll be reading up on all I missed. . maybe advancements the last few months have sorted this out)

Thats fine... Eat my NO SMOKE!! :-laf :D

P. S. A Banks High Ram intake will cure everything!

OK;; check. I'll bolt that up right after my fuel saver magnetic cure all ring.

I couldn't find if you had a rail pressure gauge, if not, get one then go from there.

Good to see you back.

Could you be injecting too much fuel too quick, basiclly putting out the flame? I know my 02 used to do that. It would make an ungodly amount of smoke on the bottom, you could feel it bog down. When the smoke would start to clear, you could feel it start to pull strong again. Just an idea.

Good to see ya back Big Mak. Kinda wondering what happened to ya.

I'll swap ya a 97 w/ 362k even steven. :-laf

I figured I had to get my jabs in if Justin did.

Nice to see you around again Mark!

Haven't seen hide or hair from you since MO!

Good luck with the truck, I don't think the P-Pump is the solution, the CR will rule it all once they get the electronics figured out!

Hmmmmm,I feel good I stayed around to get mine running right.

Bottom line is just plain ran out of $$ for this season so parked it until we could get it ready for 2007. Just pained me too much to not be able to keep working on it. That combined with a long stretch on disability pay last year for back surgery... 2007 should be easier. I've gotten some nice feedback thanks all! I'll be making some calls.

Justin. . we have to pull on the same track some time in 2007. . I have to put you in your place. Which is at least 50 feet behind me.

The goal is to make Union Grove for our opener in 2007, and IRP of-course. If I get really crazy we may try to squeeze May Madness in there (been wanting to do that for YEARS). Just to put those left coasters in line. Those three would be our longest travel runs and there all early season. Go figure.

I don't know if we'll be able to run all of DHRA though. Everything is way too far away. We'll pull some of them and most likely try and make most if not all of NPPA's (Nebraska Power Pullers). I'd have finished the season with them but didn't have a fuel and air cutoff installed.

Hopefully Diesel Truck Pullers can start seeing some nice purses that help defer travel costs regardless of finish position -- like the other pullers see. Obviously we aren't quite to the same level as the super modified "tractors" (more like funny cars) but we have as much if not more fan support then they do so... seems like we should be able to get some help. They get as much to show up as diesel truck pullers do to win.

I may put the twins back in to make certain I'm flowing enough volume since NPPA doesn't have a penalty for not melting pistons. They'll also allow me to run water injection. Those two things pretty much mean DHRA pulls will be in a too-high class to compete unless I find a way to finance a (even more) custom engine. Then again I've had the twins in and out enough times I can probably swap a single to twins and back in about six hours. A couple more times and I can probably get that down to four...

Yeah yeah yeah... . I just hope you win or you'll be back on anti-depressants... :-laf

Its gonna take a lot more of your money to get by me... .

Name the time and place. Union Grove? A "local" pull in Kansas/Missouri/Nebraska? Heck; I think I can put the smack down on you even running weak so money is not a problem in this case. :D

Big MAK,

There's something rattling around in the back of my pea-brain recalling an ECM reflash for similar issues on the '03's. At 2400RPM it sounds like it's being electronically governed like an RV engine or something similar. I hope you get it worked out.

Mark.

You Indiana kids have it easy. We did reasonably well for a first season (10 pulls, 2 wins, 4 places) -- just not many pulls in my state. It'd be nice to have one or two pulls to test things out at every weekend (I'm sure the downside is more breakage)! Our last pull was in early August.

But. . whatever. The truck will do the talkin' in '07...

Nah; may as well get the adrenaline going now...

You're all my beatch in 2007.

:D :-laf
