Hello all

My name is Travis, and I'm the new owner of a 91. 5 W250 LE standard cab 5 speed. I just got signed up and thought I'd say Hi. I've got a few questions lined up, so if I can't find the answer you'll be hearing from me. So long for now.

Welcome aboard Travis. Looks like you've hit the ground running, already have your signature up. If ya got the money might as well renew right now, I think I've purchased like 3 years here recently. Bill

Thanks for the welcome Bill. The sig line was easy, it's the same as another board I'm on. Now I've got to fish around and figure out how to get my readers rig page set.

Howdy! Make sure and take a look at the stickies on top of the forum and have some fun!

Especially the best tip thread... don't forget to overfill your trannie by one quart, and get gauges.

Remember air+fuel=power! You already covered some airflow with the loss of the muffler, make sure to tackle the intake now too.

Then get a governer spring, a new aneroid pin.

Then you need a new clutch and an nv4500 conversion. . some porting, NoS, you know... all that good stuff!

:D

Travis,

Official welcome to the TDR and the 1st Gen Forum group...

They are without a doubt the best bunch of guys you will ever find...

They bust a hump to help, never rag on ya for a goof up (although I do deduct HP for the really dumb stuff ;);):D )

Dig into the sticky posts at the top of the forum. In there you'll find condensed information, tips, how to's, what not to's, and so forth.

If you come across something that messes with your mind just ask...

OK, now, take a chair, your medication will be around in a bit... :D:D:

Welcome Travis, to the original Dodge Diesel Club! Don't let the others try and talk you into p-pumps, 24 valves or NOS (sorry CB:D ). These old girls will run with the old VE's and 12 valves with regular old air just fine!!

Anyways any time you got a question just hit us up.

By the way, have you taken a hole saw to the factory air box yet? It'll help, and it costs nada!

Michael

Welcome!

Welcome Travis:D Wow, what a low mileage truck. Write you in the forum, these folks have always helped me out... Patrick.

Hey Travis, welcome to the TDR. I really cant add much, except maybe. .

GET SOME GAUGES, ASAP!! Go with a 40 or 50psi boost gauge. Put the thermocouple in the manifold; if you melt the tip off, you've long since trashed your turbo, and the pistons will be litle clumps of aluminum somewhere they shouldnt be.

Set aside a few hours, look around, and come to your own conclusions about what you want to do. Some guys, lie CB, have delusions of breaking 500RWHP with a VE;) while I just want to top 25 mpg on the highway. OK, I'll have to do a gear swap to get there, but you get the idea. Take everything with a grain of salt, but dont be afraid to mess with things; you can always put it back to where it was. If it sounds too good to be true, it may be, with the following exception- increasing the AVAILABLE power and torque and using it judiciously usually increases MPGs.

86000 original miles on a 92 should be illegal. :D Heck, I have reservations with that low mileage on an '02. Higher mileage is a good excuse to replace "worn" parts with upgrades, aka BOMBs.

Thanks for the welcome. I haven't been able to get back since I posted. I've already read the stickys on power levels and the tips. Haven't ventured into the pump sticky yet (way too much reading for one sitting). And yes hdm48, the 86,000 miles is correct! . I bought it from a family friend of a guy at work. He has a company truck, so he doesn't dirve his vehicles much at all. Mostly hunting, camping, and the odd job around the house is what he told me. The truck wasn't even advertised, I just told the guy at work what I was looking for and he said he knew of the truck for me. It needs paint, but otherwise it's a nice truck. MMiller; I did remove the tube from the airbox that leads to the core support, but nothing else yet(I've only had it about 3 weeks). It was popped out and sitting on the wheelhouse up against the core support restricting air flow, so out it came.

So far, I'm very happy with my purchase. It only took me a couple of weeks to find exactly the truck I wanted believe it or not. I searched the internet to no avail, and found my truck right here in the Sacramento area through word of mouth.

So long for now.

Travis. . :D :D :D
