Gosh Andy, you read the whole thing!

The thread started a while back and a lot of things have happened that haven't been reported.

The fuel is still bright and clean after a biocide treatment back when. Lately, I fixed the fuel sender. Another filter, cleaned the cup. There are no leaks down there. Return lines were fixed by dealer some time ago.

The GSK REALLY helped!!! I got that done yesterday and it's not nearly as hard as the job is intimidating.

Finally learned how to use the primer--open bleed screw first. This is real handy-as I pull the supply line every time I'm in the AFC.

Timing is at 16. 25 or thereabouts, 3k GSK, TST AFC spring, #4 plate, Pro-Loc transmission. Coming along nicely. Next week injectors and exhaust housing.

Injectors (215's or 370's?) and the housing to keep the temps down should put a smile on your face.

I ran a #4 plate, 215 injectors, 14 wastegated housing, STOCK exhaust (no cat on an 'early '94) timed at 15 and it put down 275 hp and got 17 mpg. I don't remember if I had the 181 delivery valves in at that point but they helped, you will probably want to throw a set in. They are cheap take outs from a 180 or 215 pump. They will also help with the lope at 1100 RPM.

Going to start out small with the injectors. "6-holers" similar to 215's from a trusted source.

I'll wait until I do a full turbo upgrade for the 370's.

I'll have the injectors, 16cm housing, #4, and stacks by dyno time. I'll do the 181's if I find it necessary.

I need to learn more about DV's and the 160 pump. Seems to be some conflict about it. I'm going to have to catch Piers at the shop. ;)

Piers is too busy for me. Bought a 215 pump. (not here yet) 181 DV's, 370's, 14wg, very warm.

Oh and new lift pump for bucking problem.

My 94 160 pump...

sounds exactly like yours - before. I did things very incrementally. Your sounds exactly like the way mine ran before I worked on it. The exhaust/AFE were on from the start - then the boost elbow and AFC kit (huge difference), then I tried no plate (a little better), then 370s with the plate back in @ full forward (slightly better). Then a #4 plate and 4K GSK and WOW - totally different. Until the GSK mine started to die around 2000 rpm, then slowly get to 2200 rpm. It rarely sees more than 2400-2500, but holy crap does it go now!

In short - I think yours is normal, and it's probably not going to go away until you do the GSK...

For those wondering - stock turbo (WH1C), stock trans with a shift kit. YES, it gets to 1400 degrees in a hurry (pre), and YES, the TCC slips now, and yes, it is pretty choppy around 1100 rpm (but always was - only worse now).

BTDT. My sig has been updated a few times since I started this thread.

I adjusted the gov lever today. It appeared to be riding under. Now it doesn't go to 1500 until OD.

3GSK, #4, 370's, 14W housing, 16. 5 timing--plenty O power, just the huck-a-bucks not solved by new LP, heavy throttle spring, GSK adjustment, gov lever adjust, plate adjust, TV cable adjust.

Things left to do: lockup/no lock switch, and change out the injection pump. and traction bars/bags.
