2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission HELP! 1995 2500 two wheel drive front wheel bearings

I decided to do my brakes, front and rear this weekend. I called my cousin who owns an auto repair shop to order the parts so I could get his jobber rates on the parts. He ordered the drums, rotors, shoes and pads from one vender and the wheel bearings and seals from another.



I did the rears with no problems. When I went to do the fronts, realized that I either have the wrong rotors or the wrong wheel bearings. The rotors have the bearing races for tapered bearings already in them. I have outer wheel bearings that will fit the rotors. The inner wheel bearings that I got are the sealed unit bearing type which is wont work with my new rotors.



My question is this: Since I haven't taken the current front rotors off yet, I don't know what inner wheel bearings I should have, the tapered bearings or the unit bearings? Will I need to take the bearings back or the rotors? Thanks

When I had my 94 it had tapered bearings inner and outer with a pound in seal on the inner bearings my 94 was a auto

Thanks a bunch, mine is probably the same then, it is an early 95.

Why not use the old bearings over? Is there somthing wrong with them ? Wash them out really good with a solvent, dry and repack with new grease. Just . y . 02 .

I have 165000 miles on them and I am replacing the rotors and they came with new races in them already. With the amount of towing that I do, its just good practice and cheap insurance to change two eight dollar parts rather than reuse them.

My 98. 5 2 wd. front wheel rotors have tapered bearings and a seal that is just tapped in . hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. Evidently the parts store pulled the wrong bearing set off of the shelf and no one noticed 'til I went to use it.
