I recently upgraded from 300's to 370's and thought everything was ok, until yesterday. When I'm on the throttle (med & heavy) I get a nasty noise. It sounds like a mix of someone passing their nails over a glass washboard (you young guy's go look in your grandparents cellar... ) and popcorn popping and air being released from the water pipes just after a plumbing project. Is this the "stumble" that has been discussed in the past? If not, has anyone else had a similar problem? I'm going to try to get the timing adjusted ASAP but I do have to drive the truck as it is. If it's the "stumble" is there any harm driving it like this?

TIA

Paul

It only does it with a load on the engine - not in park.

Has your boost levels changed???? Could it be possible that you have developed a boost leak??????

Just a thought...

Rick

I haven't had a chance to go investigate it this morning, but I hope it's a "leaky" injector, i. e. blowing past the washer. I'll post what I find out...

edit... let's hope it's not a blown head gasket.

Hold on a second... . Is it stronger than a 241-HD? Where do I sign up for one? Just in case anyone's keeping score, transmission 3 vs tansfer case 2... .

Just got the call. A snap ring broke allowing everything to "wander" around inside the case. Needs a total rebuild and he's using the updated snap ring (thicker & stronger) :D

ProFab x-fer cases aren't usually a 'bolt-in' affair and they're not cheap either. BUT, they're a LOT stronger than a 241-HD.

At least you know you're making good power... you're breaking parts! :)
