My 93 D-350 dually with a ?standard 7 leaf rear spring pack needed 1 1/2- 2" of lift to bring the rear ride height back. It carries a load of tools and parts that don't vary much from day

to day 8,440# gross puts 4,640# on the rear axle. I ordered an

Air Lift kit from Summitt and installed it. Nice brackets, looks well

done. Aired it up to 70# to get the ride height I wanted and left

home on a 950 mile service call trip. It rides so stiff I first replaced the rear shocks with a new pair of Monroes, didn't help.

Then I aired it down to 60, then 50, then 40# losing about half of the ride height. Better, but it still rides like bobtailing a 10 ton Army semi tractor. It is way oversprung, no suspension deflection.

My guess is that the only way to make this work for me is to take

out some spring leaves, but how many?

Has anyone else been down this same road?

Been there, done that...

I just traded off a 1990 Dually, 2WD with the Cummins and the Air Bag setup. I removed 3 leaves off of each side and uaually ran with about 30 lbs. of air. I did not have a concern as to the ride height just the ride. The truck was awesome to drive. Very comfortable. With 50 lbs. in the rear, the truck was a great trailer toter.

Now I'm sorry that I traded her off. I guess that I should have found another way to get the parts to convert my crewcab Ford.

Good luck with yours...

Rear Air Bags

My 93 with rear Firestone air bags rides as an empty concrete truck with no load and 10 psi in the bags. Does ride well with my 10K trailer and 60 psi. I installed this setup to return ride height while loaded with trailer, sure rides hard . Rick.
