Help ASAP Please! Fuel leak...

I spent this afternoon installin my fp gauge, since I couldn't get a good answer on what thread lock to use, I went ahead and didn't use any. Guys have told me to use a needle valve to help control pulsations and to stop a leak in the cab if it acured. Now the brass fittings are leaking. Is it because I didn't use thread lock, or becasue there cheap fittings? Is there a need for a needle valve? Please help

Yes, your fittings are most likely leaking becasue of no thread sealer.

Yes, a needle valve is a must have when you are running fuel into the cab.

Are you in northern CO?

So should I go back and use the thread sealer tape I got from NAPA? I was told not to use the tape, it might break off and cause problems. And I was told not to use the liquid thread sealer because it turns into a solid and might get stuck in the injector holes.

I can't tell you what to use as far as tape or paste. I use stuff called leak lock, it's for air conditioner fittings, and is super chemical resistant. I do know that if you use staright teflon, your fittings will always be damp.

Use your common sense when you apply which ever sealer you decide on, use it sparingly, and leave the first quarter of threads dry and you don't have to worry about it getting into the system.

Hope that helps you out.

Put a small amount of liquid sealant on the first couple threads, screw it on, wipe any excess, let it sit a bit before starting and then no worries.

Leak lock the only place you will find it ,is at a major air cond. sales place usualy comercial or home ac... . permatix #2 will do you a great job you can purchase it at any auto parts

So either the Leak Lock or the Permatex High Performance. Cool, thanks fellas. Headed out first thing in the morning. Should I also use it on the fitting plugged into the back of the gauge?

Use the thread sealer on any threads holding back fluid.

BTW, I used Permatex 2A, I think. It's listed on the card as being safe with diesel. 2B isn't. It might be the other way, though, check the card to be sure.
