When accelerating the engine stumbles. Also stumbles or loses power while towing or cruising. The engine problems started with hard starting on cold/cool mornings.

Other symptons are low boost at lower temps, longer cool down times, less power, excessive engine temp when I pulled a load in hill country.

I have an EZ Edge chip, BDII injectors, bigger turbo, straight thru 4" exhaust, BHAF. these are on a 2002 HO 6sp, 2500 4X4.

What I've done so far, Replaced BHAF filter, fuel filter, lift pump, fuel, unplugged Edge. Nothing has helped.

Any other suggestions?

What are the symptoms of a failing injector pump?

My VP44 died...

and the only symptom I had was slow start at the beginning of the day, hard start after it was warmed up. The slow start is best described as turning over 2 - 3 times before it would fire. On a Cummins, if it does not fire the first (at most second time) time, something is wrong.

The hard starting when warm got to a point this last May that it would turn over up to 10 seconds before it would fire. This was bad enough to make me think I would be left stranded one day.

I got a new VP44 installed and it is back to its old self. Fires the first time every time!:D :cool: :D It always ran good and pulled like it should with the old VP44 until I had it changed for the hard start condition.

You might want to check your codes. I did not have any (so I was told; I bet I did). There is a code for bad injector pump timing. I think it is 0216, but ask others here to be sure. If you have this code from what I have read here, the VP44 is toast or soon will be!:-{}

P0216 code....

Injection Pump Timing Failure.

Look back on my posts since April for my story. IMO, if you've got this code there is a new VP44 in your future.

I have a scanner and I had no codes set, yet my VP44 was going south! Your symptoms seem like the injection pump is about gone.
