Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 370 injector question

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) ST-50 Turbo?

In my previous post I was looking for ideas as to why my truck would intermittently loose power and then seemed to "snap out of it". I ran the truck on a code reader and got a P0237. The reader indicated "Turbo charger boost sensor A circuit low". I unhooked the Banks ottomind at the MAP sensor and cleared the codes. They did not return. As soon as I hooked the Banks back up, the thing threw the same trouble code. The truck also seemed to run fine without the Banks. . less power of course. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with mine. Banks said it was an earth problem and sent me a new harness. Made no difference at all. Chased the problem, for around 6 months, then gave up and bought the TST PM3. Best thing I ever did:D

Cheers,

Cam

Map sensor..

Henry, my truck did this a few years ago, got the same code. Dealer replaced the map sensor and everything has been fine since.

Take a drive with the box off,and scanner on to monitor boost pressure, does it appear normal? If it is normal blame the box. I have scrapped quite a few ottomind boxes for that very issue.

Not the MAP sensor

It's not the map sensor, I replaced that a while ago. I was told that the ottomind reads the boost pressure post guage. If that's the case, would a bad boost gauge cause the problem?

The Otto gets its info electricly from the map sensor. It does not matter weather it's pre or post guage as the info coming from the map is all the same.

Question about gauge

I remember that issue being brought up in the past on a thread. I was just thinking if the boost gauge was faulty and current passing through it wasn't being transmitted to the otto, the puter would read it as low voltage from the sensor. Dunno, just reaching at this point.

You're right tool man

Talked to Banks. I'm sending the ottomind back for a reflash / inspection. Apparently the ottomind does read signal directly off MAP sensor (which is new). All I can figure is that the ottomind is puking. Hopefully Banks agrees with me. So, I've addressed the ground, Map Sensor and harness. Aside from the reflash, can anyone think of anything else it could be if Banks doesn't think it's the ottomind? Cam, what did you pay for the TST PM3 and can I still use the Dynafact gauges?

Henry,

What did Banks tell you regarding your ottomind? Did you get it back and try it after reflashed it? I just got back from a 5 week trip with the family and while towing my 5thr, I started experincing stuttering like a loss of power to the point where it would cause the truck to jerk. I disconected the ottomind line to the pump and the problem would seem to almost go away. Hook it back up and the truck would begin acting like the power was shutting off. I was concerned that I might be experincing some fuel pump issues so today I went in looking for codes and and found that I have thrown 217, 237 and 1693 while on the trip. I spoke with Banks when I first started experincing this and they told me that this was not related to their unit. At this point I am going to yank the ottomind completely this weekend.

Thanks,

Randy

May be able to help

Hello,

If you call me I can help you diagnose your problem and most likely tell you how to repair the problem. It is a truck or wiring harness issue, not a box issue most likely. The fix probably includes an enema, so call and I'll tell you why!!!!!!!!!!!
