a tad off subject but...

This is not a barking story, but a dog story nonetheless. When I first had my Weimer, during her second heat. I had a few dogs coming from around the area. Most would run off and stay off if I scowled at 'em and scared 'em. My Weimer is about 65 lbs.

But there was this little hamster sized, ratty looking piece of crap that looked like it weighed less than 10 lb. that would run far enough away from me, that when it knew he was safe, he'd stop and just look at me and wait. I couldn't even work outside for the pestering of this little rat at my fence. After enough *trying* to run it off, I devised a plan.

I was working outside the fenced area, and I left the gate slightly open knowing my Weimer was smart enough to stay inside the gate when noone was out there with her. Then I stepped into my enclosed trailer and pulled the door *almost* shut. I watched & waited, and the little rat came back to the fence and finally noticed it was open, and went in. So I sprang out of the trailer and shut the gate on him with him inside. You should've seen the look on his face, I could swear his face said, "that gate was open 1 second ago," as he was heading out the gate to get away from me. I put my Wiemer in the house and the fun began.

First, I hosed this dog off with the water hose for about 10 minutes, focusing on the face area. He just backed into a corner and took it. Then I got a tall cardboard box and put the open end over him, and scooted the box out of the fenced area. I used the box to keep him from biting me (don't know if he would've or not, but wasn't taking any chances).

After I got him out of the gate, I remembered there was a broom in the room where I found the box. So I got the broom and whopped the side of the box (above where he was at, it was a tall box and he was only about 6" tall) a few times. I made the broom handle land flush to the flat side of the box, so it popped loud like a gunshot. :D I never touched the dog, and didn't harm him. But it must've scared a couple lives out of him, cause when I let him go, he ran so fast I couldn't see those 2" legs (his legs were a blurr like the roadrunner's). All I could hear were his toe nails on the black top diggin' for all they were worth. I laughed and never saw him again. I bet his owners wondered why he was so wet. If they kept him at home like he was supposed to be, it wouldn't have been an issue. Never knew who his owners were or where they lived.
