My buddy has a 95 Ford Crew Cab - 460 gasser with the auto - isn't that the EO4D? He's had the darn thing rebuilt two times and just has over 100,000 miles on it. He drives a two horse trailer, maybe 6000 lbs and is a very careful 7 gentle driver. I can't imagine that his driving habits have caused any problem. On the way home last evening, it went south on him again. He said that several times it wouldn't go out of 1st, then he got into second and when it shifted to third, it was like being in neutral. Does Bill K work on these? Not sure what he needs but getting a broken truck to BC isn't easy, yet alone I'm not sure he wants to put in the dollars that Bill might need fix it. However he has had so many problems with this thing, it would be nice to get it fixed right. I'm going to give him this thread when he get's back in town. Options. 1st - should I call Bill and try and get an idea on a ballpark cost - or is there a good shop in the Portland/Vancouver area that could do a good job. I don't think my buddy wants to invest a million $$$ into this truck - in fact he's lost faith in this transmission? Recommendations... ...

If your friend has not replaced the transmission, its one of those E4OD's that love to self destruct. Also does the truck has a transmission cooler on it? I had one of those trannies in a 91 Ford F250 which also went south and after the $2400 it took to put it back together with a lot of upgrades(Ford TSB's), the shop installed a Hayden 1 1/2"X12 1/2"X15 1/2" with 3/8" lines going thru it. The cooler was rated for motor homes pulling 10,000+. I ran the truck for another 2 years and did not have another problem with it. Also did Ford rebuild the transmission or just a trans shop? Hope this helps. .
