We will be taking a trip from California to Tennesse. We will have the kids with us and do not want the kids to get bored. What attractions are in the listed cities, such as theme parks, histroical sites, something to entertain the kids on this trip. The cities we have in mind stopping in are:

Flagstaff, Arizona

Phoenix, Arizona

Albuquerue, New Mexico

Amarillo, Texas

Oklahoma City, Okalhoma

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Fort Smith, Arkansas

Memphis, Tennesse

Little Rock, Arkansas

Nashville, Tennesse

Thank you for all input.

Jeff:)

at Flagstaff or even at Williams, turn left and make the drive up to the Grand Canyon, hopefully you can let the kids see the big ditch and not be out-numbered by the bus-loads of foreign tourists.

a little out of your way, but south east of Phoenix and almost due north of Tucson is the

BIOSPHERE

ex-wife#2 and I went there with her daughter (14 yrs old at the time) and she really enjoyed it, in fact she was the one who wanted to go there.

Albuqerque is a jumping off spot to lots of neat things to see, like the missions in Santa Fe, Taos, Chimayo, also down to Roswell (UFOs) and a few other places.

Thats as far east as I have been on the southern route, I am sure others will chime in shortly.

Have a great trip and hope your A/C is working , you will need it!!!!!!!

BTW, what part of THE CENTRAL VALLEY are you in, I am in Sacramento.

In Amarillo, Tx, there is the Quarter horse museum, pretty interesting.

In Oklahoma City--

National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum,

A massive museum known for its Western art.

Frontier City, Oklahoma City

An amusement park run by Six Flags.

Kirkpatrick Science and Air Space Museum at Omniplex,

Known as the "Smithsonian of the Southwest", it contains a science museum, an air space museum, a photography hall of fame and the Red Earth Indian Center.

45th Infantry Division Museum, Oklahoma City

Military museum with many items from World War II.

In Tulsa--

Gilcrease Museum

The world's largest collection of art from the American West is housed at this museum, which is also well stocked with Native American artifacts and artwork. Thematic gardens reflect the gardening styles of different time periods.

Tulsa Air and Space Museum

Tulsa's rich aviation history is traced through such exciting exhibits as the F14 Tomcat, Shuttle Launch, Wind Tunnel and Flight Simulation Lab.

I know there is many more things to do, just depends on what you and your kids are into.

From the pictures I've seen, I'd have thought it to be the other way around:D

Another big hole in the ground is the Meteor Crater in Arizona. Its located about 6 miles south of I-40 between Flagstaff and Winslow. Very interesting. Shows where a meteor hit earth and left a hole about a mile wide.
