Archived HELP! Can't keep truck running.

It is 16 degrees here this morning. I could not get the truck to start. Block heater was plugged in all night. Finally started, I drove 20 miles and it died again. I have the Holley for a l/p. If I remove the fuse, the truck starts right up. Then dies if I return the fuse. How can I tell if the grid heater is functioning? I think that the grid heater is not functioning and that with the l/p running, the VP over runs the heating ability of the grid heater. I am thinking the right way? Also, while trying to start, code P1693 displayed. Any suggestions? I am at work now and have to drive my route, and I can't keep my truck running?!?!

grid heaters only needed to start . if she runs w/out "the fuse" then pull it out and drive. 1693 is a companion code need to read codes.

The grid heater heats the air, not the fuel. The VP needs the lift pump to work so if you pull the fuse and the lift pump stops pumping you run the risk of trashing your VP if it isn't done already. I hope you are not using the holly to try to pump fuel through the stock lift pump because you can't do this. It has to be removed or it will create a restriction. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? That would be a good place to start. What is the fuel pressure and where are you taking it from?

Also, make sure the fuel lines are not sucking air at the Holy lift pump. this could cause it to die,,, but I think you would need to reprime to get it to start again.
