Bob I'm intrigued. *I'm a 23 year diesel tech, but on the heavy duty side of things. I'm going to admit to being a brand new owner of a 2013 6.7 litre. I've not heard of the turbo cleaning procedure as of yet. What does it consist of? And the pre-test , is that like a turbo actuator hysteresis test?*
The pretest runs the actuator through it's stroke while monitoring it,The procedure itself consist of injecting a cleaning solution into the turbo vane area through a special tool (tapped hole) into the preheated turbo. The factory scan tool cycles the vanes(engine not running) during the process. The latter year turbos the tapped hole from the factory
Thank you ... I am surprised not to have seen or heard of that yet. We do work on quite a few of the B, C, and ISL *medium duty cummins and I can't recall anyone in the shop doing or even mentioning this procedure. Seems things are a bit different in the automotive side. I know in looking at the engine under the hood of the ram, there are a few parts there that I have not seen before, such as the cable operated valve (I'm assuming it's a valve) on the hot side of the egr cold pipe. Time to do some research I guess! Appreciate the response, Bob4x4*
