My computer was infected yesterday while searching for cheaper cholesterol meds. Co-pay is up to $105. 00 now!!!!! :--)

I have the free AVG, spybot, and Ad-ware.

It seems to be connected with popups.

Trojan horse dialer & backdoor something or other.

I've deleted all of my files & cookies in the internet explorer, and ran several times, the programs listed above.

It's still here. :{

Everytime I open a new window, it says:

16 bit MS-DOS system

C:/windows/system32/atlxn. exe

The NTDVM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.

CS:0dbc IP:0009 OP:fO de 01 14 04 Choose "close" to terminate the application.

HELP!!!

I seem to have the popups that accompanied this under control for now.

Do you have Adaware SE 1. 05

Thats the good one

Also get microsofts new anti spy for free do a web search for Microsoft antispy Its a great program

Start there

Whats your ANTI VIRUS ????

AVG ??

ID get mcafee or norton

Your living on the edge man

Once you get the programs Ive mentioned you can ditch the Spybot Search and destory its going south big time.

MSN anti-spyware...

Eric, try the beta MSN anti-spyware, it is a free download on the Microsoft homepage. I run all those you listed and the MSN found 8 trojans/dialers after running spybot and adware. I am in no way a 'puter nerd but it seems to work well, plus it is free.

Try http://www.spysweeper.com - that's what I'm using for bot control now and it finds everything that spybot s&d and adaware do and more. I've had several clients infected with stuff that those wouldn't find that this would - they have a 30 day trial you can download and after you download that you can subscribe for 2 years for $39. 95 (only option I could find to buy it outright initially was 1 year for $29. 95).

After trying almost all the free downloads looking for one that worked the best for me I ended up buying Pest Patrol by computer associates. Adaware worked good but did not see @ least 5 major spyware probs. I also tried spysweeper and it found stuff that adaware missed but bogged down my system with the free version. Pest patrol has a free sweep to give you an indication of what everybody else is missing.

Now my pc is lightning fast.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I downloaded all of them. They didnt completely clean it up.

I worked on this most of yesterday/last night.

It would help a LOT if I knew what I was doing.

I finally brought the puter to my nephew. He formatted the HD and loaded win XP pro in it. I think it's OK now. ??? Guess time will tell.

Thanks again!!

Eric :)
