My cruise control started going south after the large connector block at steering column was replaced. Was told wires were tight and frayed in spots. But everything was supposed to have been fixed. Now, some times C. C. will work correctly and sometime will not even turn off, Cruise stays engaged. Have to hit brake (only sure method, CC will not turn off, just disengage), sometimes have to hit ON/OFF and SET button at same time to make CC turn off. Anyone with a good idea. Dealer and DC will replace all controls but not the contact spring (ring) in column. That I have to pay BIG $$$ :eek for. Flakey problem. Any ideas?

TIA

Although this doesn't sound much like the problem I had, I have learned to suspect the brake pedal switch almost immediately. It's cheap, and a good place to start.

FYI - Problem fixed, dealer replaced the button assembly on steering wheel. Dealer waanted to take a shotgun and replaced everything associated with cruise system. But finally decided to do proper and correct method of trouble shooting to determine cause of failure.
