heres the deal my bud has a 2001 3500 4X4 teh lift pump went out so finally the vp44 went out we took it in to the dodge house they said they would warrany it it has 96,000 we talked to the cummins tech that was working on it and he said no problem there is no way that the kit could make it go out. great go warranty. well they called back in the mid week and said they were canceling the waranty. cause of teh kit. they won't even fix the high lo beam switch (he ahad teh extended warranty). before I go hit someone is there anything I could do. I'm going ot fight it I want them to SHOW me proof that this KIT did everything not a bad lift pump like lots of stock dodges have. I'm starting to HATE dodge. sorry I'm venting.

what kinda "kit" is on the truck that they think caused the problem? try a different dealer, you would be suprised what one dealer will do and another won't!

sorry it is a PM3 the dealer was cool with it but the district manager came down and look at the pump and saw where the wire was.

The truck has gotta be stock when you take it in or don't expect much.

If it was big tires or something not in the fueling path I would raise all heck, but it's way too easy to blame a fuel pump on a fueling box imo.

That's life in the BOMBing world. Good luck.

PM3 as in powermax 3 , bummer , nothing he can do on the pump . but this is what chaps my hide , how can they not honor the light switch , that one i would fight , there is no way that any one at DC can say the powermax had anything to do with that and they have no legal right to not honor that part of the warranty .

this is why i'll never buy another new DC product , i'll buy a ford before i ever buy another dodge .

i would go make a scene in the middle of the showroom ...

I agree. I had mine voided two years ago on an issue that was their problem to begin with.

Long story short. DC has more money, lawyers, and time than I do.

Don't be offended

Can you say - "I am my own warranty station".

I am however - Dissapointed that the switch was not covered if the extended warranty covered that item.

Court

You could take the dealer to small claims court, no lawyer. And make him prove the box caused the problem. Armed with the Ferguson act.

I will admit, the local Ferd dealer had several leftover powersmokes down there for a good price, so I started reading sites like this one, but for fords. I found the guys on these sites had a fix for the cackel injector problem, but ford was voiding there warrantee for doing it. I am sure GM is doing the same thing.

ford warranty void

Had a buddy consent to have a ford tech "check out" a hard start condition on a PS diesel in a van. Said it would be covered under waranty. Tech was "fishing'' for work and tore the thing down . Long story short Ford rep denied waranty and dealer left buddy hang with very dissambled van and $2000. 00 bill he had to pay to get it back. Lawyers have it now.

Not the dealer. Dodge is the one canceling the warrenty star asks if the pump has been tampered with before they will send a replacment. If it has been the Dodge not the dealer denies warrent on the pump. There is a TSB that deals with what they want checked before they will send you a VP-44 I can't remeber what the TSB# is but it's been mentioned on TDR before.

I was sitting in the service managers office at the local Dodge dealer and can verify that they have pics of pumps and tapped wires. Right there on his desk was a big folder full of TSB's and one of them had pics of tapped wires. He knows I have the wire tapped and said the pump is on me if I ever have problems. . but he will still fix my heated mirrors and the leaky headlight. The dealer does not HAVE to turn you in, they can overlook certain things, they don't have to... but they can.

Sorry to hear about your problems... I would opt for the torqus maximus ecm, at least you get something better than stock. .

We have reported on this site for a few years now that Dodge does not warranty injection pumps that have had fueling boxes tapped onto them. This should be NO suprise to anyone! Sorry!

However, the extended warranty that you paid extra money for is different than the regular 'free' warranty that comes with new vehicles, so you should be covered by your extended warranty. They are completely different departments. I would fight for that one... it seems the dealer is forgetting that extended warranties are a different deal. (you might want to read up on your extended warranty coverage form first, though)

No lawyers are involved in small claims court.

If you end up having to still buy a new injection pump, Piers or Cummins is going to be the cheapest places to buy them. The Dodge dealers charge twice as much for the same pump.

Oh, no! I really hate to hear that man... I suppose you're talking about Timbo? That really sucks!

What dealer are you going to? I'll be sure not to go there. As far as the extended warranty, the dealer can't legally deny warranty claim for the switch. Threaten the dealer with a lawsuit, they'll give in. Worked for me! nothing you can do about the pump. Well, I do know of a good salvage yard.

Good luck
