Big problem. I have the heater TSB and a radio that doesn't light up in accessory mode that I identified at 37000 miles. I have the extended warranty (why? good question... ). Went to Royal Gate Doge in Ballwin, MO today and guess what... "We're sorry, but you our out of your warranty period and althogh this was a TSB, we cannot repair the heater problem under warranty. We will, however, take care of the issue as a goodwill claim under your extended warranty but you will have to pay the $100 deductible. "

Are you kidding me? What kind of crappy service plan is this? The guy accused me of having an aftermarket stereo in the truck that wasn't covered, then called back to tell me he was SITTING IN THE WRONG TRUCK.

Geeez. I don't know what to do. Any ideas? Why should I have to pay them for a frigging heater problem that THEY KNEW ABOUT.

I'm so mad I'm about to my pants.

I had an extended warranty (100,00 which is now used up) and I had to pay the deductable after the 3/36 ran out. I think TSB's are chargeable and recall repairs/changes are not. Good luck. bg

Tsb's are not an authorization to perform any work. They are information only. They are to save time in troubleshooting. During your basic warranty period,3/36 they will be done if you have the concern they address. After your basic warranty expires, your repairs become your responsibility, unless a recall has been made. I don't remember the exact language used but consider your service contract as an insurance policy, not a warranty. Your deductible will be per visit,so be sure to have every covered repair done during one visit. I am pretty sure you can also get a refund for the un-used portion of your service contract if you decide you are not happy with it in most states.

I hope this might relieve some of your frustration you are experiencing.

How many miles right now??

37100 miles

Thanks for the info everyone - I had the flashbacks of my Ford days coming back to me. Not the fault of the dealer on this one - it was mine. Still - aggravated that the dude was sitting in the wrong truck when he checked the radio.

They called after my post last night - now I have to take truck back in for the repairs on the defrost since they don't have the parts.

I didn't mean to vent so horribly here on the post last night - but I just get tired of everybody trying to get out of everything, always.

Thanks! Paul

Okay - just got back from dealership and they disovered that it was the ignition switch (just like I told them it was). Service sceduled for Wed. Thanks to everbody for setting me straight on the TSB rules. It'll still cost me $100 - but I'm not infuriated anymore.

Glad you got it handled - $100 is not TOO shabby

better than full price - although $0 would have been great :-laf

Thanks

Thanks. If nothing else, I have learned that I wasn't imagining it when I thought my radio illumination on accessory was intermittent. I will have to take it to the dealer to see if it is the ignition switch. Luckily I have only a bit over 20K on the odometer at this point...

Wow! If you do not get any satisfaction with the dealer call Chrysler direct!

All I recieved when I did that was a form letter stating that were basically sorry they were unable to help me!! Currently waiting to see if I get a reply back from the DEALER after I informed thier customer service reply team of my disdain for them after my last visit that resulted in my truck sitting on the back lot for 2 days while they did nothing to it!!!

:-laf :-laf :-laf Call Chrysler??? :-laf :-laf :-laf You must be kidding! Chrysler couldnt care less about any warranty issue or much of anything else. Unless you have a good dealer behind you, forget it! I had a 98 12v that lived in the first stall of the dealer in Calif. I finally got fed up, just what they wanted, and traded it off on a new Yukon XL. . Best thing I ever did. I see the truck from ytime to time but mostly sitting at the service department at CHUCK PATTERSON DODGE IN CHICO CALIF!. . DID YOU HEAR THAT CHUCKIE????   Calif buyer beware

This is what needs to be addressed if anyone expects to get satisfaction from any dealer. Does TDR have a buyer be away/aware section on the forum? There is no way to keep track of the complaints on just the regulare forum, how about a dealer complaint forum that will list all Pro's and Con's of dealers nationwide? I would pay extra for a special TDR publication once a year to take into the offending dealers and let them know, "hey, just wanted you to know you are labeled as a crook, incompetent, snake, or whatever by a national dodge diesel forum, Congrats".

There is no accountability anymore towards dealers, I have personally seen service departments notify customers that parts were not covered, labor not covered etc, then find the vehicle history pulled up a few months later to reflect full warranty coverage of repairs, yet no refund to the customer for their payments to get the vehicle back. Can you say, DOUBLE DIPPING??!!!This is not the norm, but sadly happens more often than not at most dealerships, all brands, all makes. I can not name the dealer I worked for due to settlement agreement, but be assured, it happens, alot!!

So how about a blacklist/compliments list here on TDR? Documented reviews and complaints only so it doesn't turn into a tabloid rag, of course.

Sounds good, I'm game

I would be quicker to just list them all, and then post about any we know are good. Now that would be a short list!!!

wow, sorry to hear that you are having issues. That would never have happened to one of my customers. What radio do you have? 6 disc, cd cassette? I cant help withthe other issue as i am in milwaukee, but I can possibly get you another head unit as a favor for a Smoke Driver!
