Well, leaving for Arizona next Friday, and I need to know of a good dealer in my area. I'll be living in Tempe, AZ (1. 3 mi. from ASU).

My prob. is I had remote start installed today here by my dealer, and IT DOESN"T WORK. I'll be gone before the parts get here to fix it, so I need to know of a good dealer in the Tempe area, that I can have order the parts and install them.

Thanks for any INFO.

I haven't done any business with these guys, but they have been in the valley for a long time and I haven't heard anything bad. I almost bought a one ton from them, but they were a little too slow to make a deal.

This is less than 10 miles from where you are staying. Take East bound 60 to Country Club and turn right. You can't miss it, it is huge.

Earnhardt's Dodge

I bought my truck at Tempe Dodge and flew from CA to do it. Absolutely no games, straight forward, and they did all they said they would, and sent me off with a full tank. I don't have service dept experience there, but the tone of the place was HONEST.

They know of TDR, and it'd be nice to see a dealer that gave a standing 5 or 10% off for TDR guys. It'd get ME to drive out of my way for service. :D . Just my $. 02.

Dealer in Tempe, AZ

I have been doing business with Tempe Dodge from back in mid 96 when I purchased my 97 2500 from them and then purchased my 04 SRW 3500 from them also. They have done normal service and some special things for both truck and I have been very happy with the workmanship. By the way the parts department is great as I just picked up the parts they ordered for me for the remote start but have not gotten it installed yet. The service writer that I work with for the diesel truck stuff is Gary Cox.

I took my just purchased six year old truck into Tempe Dodge. I liked the way the service advisor kept me informed, and they did only what they were asked to do. Follow up by telephone girl to see if I was satisfied too.

I will go back.

Earnhardt? I got a bad taste from their sales people twice now. I tried to buy a new car for the wife and got insulted. Won't be going back soon. Pi$$ poor tactics in sales.

I agree about the bad taste from the sales lot sales hounds. I recently bought my 2004 Cummins through Earnhardt fleet--much less hassle but still some problems.

As for service, I can't say it is much better, such as two hours for an oil change.

That's so weird... . I had the complete opposite experience with Earnhardt and Tempe Dodge. Tempe Dodge was cool at first, but became total dicks when it came time to make a deal. I ended up buying my truck through the Earnhardt fleet service guys. Great guy to deal with (found out he is now at a dealership in Colorado).

I'll be in Tempe for another month then living in Phoenix til at least the first of the year or so.

I think we'll have to get a PHX/AZ TDR get together in the works.

I had a 96 that I failed to heed the warnings from DC to bring it in for the brake booster hose replacement. It went out on us while we were out south of US60 between Florence Junction and Superior I think. Oh yeah, and it was at night when it happened. Fun ride home. I took it Earhardt's and was told it would be 2-3 days to fix due to the workload. I told them I leaving to come back to Texas before then and could they get it done quicker. In by 9 out by 5. It was obvious where the work had been done due to the hand prints under the hood but I'm not complaining because they helped me out in a bad situation. I probably wouldn't buy a truck from them due to their salespeople. I don't remember what they did to tick me off but they did. Nice big lot though.

I am glad someone else chimed in. I really don't have much experience with the Dodge dealers. I bought my truck at Avondale Dodge in the West Valley. The fleet guys were quick to show me the invoice and they made me a real good deal. Also the fleet manager got me the employee discount on some inner wheel well liners and an AirAid filter. I will discover how the service department works after I go in for my first oil change yet. Probably next week. Avondale Dodge is out West I10 to about 99th Ave.

Keith's suggestion is probably a good one. I have heard other good things about Swanson. To get there from Tempe you would have to take I10 West to 101 North and then US 60 NW (Grand Avenue) to Waddell. It will take you about 45 minutes to an hours but it might be worth it.

I like the idea of a TDR gathering in AZ. I read this site almost daily, so let me know when and I will make my plans.

Fred Swanson PM'd me, and recommends Peformance Dodge in Glendale. He knows and deals w/the service guys there, so I think thats where I'll take my truck.

Thanks for the replies.

That is good for me to know as well. Performance is closer to me than Avondale Dodge. If it wasn't for the fact that Avondale gave me so much credit with them when I bought my truck, I would take it there with Freds recommendation.

I use Earnhardt's for service. They are the closest to me and I have a pretty good working relationship with Brian Sherer. Top notch stuff.

I will admit, buying from them sucked. They are morons and always wanted to get an extra $1000 out of me. I can't resist a good fight and the urge to shove some paperwork in their face saying that they were liars was fun when I finally bought my 2 trucks from them. The salesman admitted they lied to me but the sales "manager" never did. Imagine that.

I've had my truck in for service at both Earnhardt and Tempe Dodge. Both gave good service. Earnhardt is a larger dealer with higher volume especially with diesel. I purchased mine from a fleet manager at Earnhardt who was more interested with volume than price so I ended up with a great deal. As far as service either one should give adequate service for the type of repair you are getting.

I think I'll try the Glendale dealer next on Fred's recomendation. A co-worker of mine has had nothing but problems with the Avondale Dealer. He has an 02 V10. He visably gets upset when talking about their service dept. It's also way to far to drive from Tempe and so is Desert Diesel Parts. I'm going to use Fred when I get my 48RE modified with DTT.

For a good sales dealer, try Chapman in Scottsdale, and Performance Dodge in Glendale is decent as far as diesel service goes, and they don't look for any reason to void your warranty, not openly at least.

Don't even think of buying from them though, they have crooks on the sales floor, you'll get your arm broken and your wallet too. I beat PD's price on an identical truck on the same day by over $7,000 by going to Chapman, Chapman's has sold me 3 trucks now, always the lowest price.

And for real parts, call Fred Swanson in the far west valley.

I bought my '03 from Tempe Dodge (Steve Hackney, Fleet Sales). Got what I thought was a very good deal. Would go back. Haven't had any problems with their service. All problems have been taken care of. Tried Performance Dodge's service dept. No problems, either. For parts, the most cooperative dealer was Joe (in the parts dept. ) at Bill Luke Dodge. Bought a number of things (Mopar Fluids, Gear Oils, Towing Mirrors, etc. ) from him and got the best deal from him. Joe F.

Well,

Since Bill Luke Dodge has been brought up, I can report on using their service department.

Been there twice, both times for warranty service on ABS system on a 1991 Plymouth Voyager. Both times the service was performed on or before the promised time. Work was done correctly and neat. Maybe 3 weeks after each job, a call center girl gave me a jingle to ask if I was satisfied with their work and was I treated right?

I have a favorable feeling in that arena so would go back if I need service. Bill Luke is close to my office, Tempe Dodge is closer to my home. Flip a coin.
