Hi,

A few weeks ago, my ABS and BRAKE warning lights came on in tandem. They seem to come on at random times. Some trips they don't come on at all, but once they come on, they always stay on until the truck is restarted. My brake fluid is on the full mark. My CTD has rear ABS only.

After reading dozens of TDR threads on the issue, I discovered that the most common cause of this problem is a dirty/bad ABS sensor mounted in the rear diff. So I bought the part for $35 and replaced the sensor.

A few days went by, no warning lights, so I was feeling good that I fixed it. Then, as chance would have it, the warning lights came on again.

What are the other possible causes for the warning lights? I detect a very slight "rebounding" or resistence in the brake pedel for its first inch or so of travel. Could it be the brake booster? Where would you start first and what would you inspect/replace?

All help is appreciated. Roads are slippery now and I don't like to operate without ABS. Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem, wound up cleaning and dielectric grease on the drivers side plugs under the truck behind the wheel well and disassembling the trailer plug at the hitch. Problem solved. If you have a brake controller try unplugging it and see if that solves your problem.
