I perfromed the fix over on Fritz's website, but now my AC compressor won't work at all?

I was running without the relay for about a month. I did the "fix" and reinstalled the relay. I think I heard the clutch grab one time, but after that I didn't hear it again.

I am running without a fan, and I understand it is bad to let the clutch cycle fanless, but I was just "testing" for a few seconds at a time. The clutch should still have cycled correct?

I need to verify I removed the correct copper "pins". The fix said to remove the outer pins on the mode selector switch. The mode selector switch is the top switch and the pins I removed were the outer ones not contacting the center pole. Maybe I screwed this up?

My next step is to throw a can of freon in there, as it does leak very, very slighlty, maybe it's just too low on freon to allow the cltuch to cycle. I know the clutch was cycling fine before I pulled the relay.

Thanks for all your help.

Ryan, without looking at it it sounds like you removed the contact pins rather than the wiper(moving part). If so you won't have any A/C at all even on the A/C side of the fan switch. There are two wipers, if I remember right the one you want to remove is the smaller of the two. You also may have done it right, not absolutely sure on our trucks but on most newer vehicles the compressor won't engage when you are at idle so you won't be able to tell if what you did works with that method.

Do these look like the right parts? (sorry if it's bad, I can take another one if necessary)

I picked up a can a freon to see if that takes care of it. I haven't tried to put it in yet. I'll wait to see if I removed the right parts before I try the freon.

I don't know what the difference is between the wiper (I didn't see anything that looked liked what I would call a wiper) and the contacts. The parts I removed were on the piece that connects to the knob on the front.

Thanks for the help,

Ryan

Here is a better picture. I went to take one sooner, but the battery on the camera died.

The spring on the left was located under the copper "contact" on the right.

I hope I did this right. I had to of, this is the only thing (there were two of these "things") copper I could have removed. I guess I will try the freon in the AM.

Thanks Bill :)

Ryan;

You are turning the fan control knob to the left to run the A/C?

That looks to be the same contact I pulled. I reread the post Fritz website and it says the fan will not work if you pull the wrong contact.

Have you checked for power at the A/C clutch? Give the relay a good swat ? (They do stick)

The names for these technical thingies is sorta "the eye of the beholder". I think the post referred to the contact as the moving copper hunk you removed and the wiper as the shaped copper on the board in the switch. I'm of the other other school that calls them fixed and moving contacts. You removed a moving contact.

I don't think your rework is the probelm.

Thanks for the help fellas.

Turns out it just needed a drink of freon. It was fully charged in July, so I guess my leak isn't too bad.

Thanks again :)
