I did some drafting layout work but that was over 20 years ago and I'm just not up to speed on this anymore... .

Do any of you guys have the skills to layout things like 3,4,5 segment elbows for pipe??

I may need some templates to allow me to use some nasty heavy SS pipe for my exhaust system.

I'm trying to make some offsets and/or elbows to move up, over and down past the crossmember on a 4X4, then back to the tailpipe and over the axle tube.

Since this pipe is roughly 10ga. and is pressure rated to 1000psi (I think it is) it can't be bent like tubing.

So what's the chances of getting some help on this project since I'm going to need to weld the segments together making an offset or 3 piece elbow sort of things...

Anyone????

Bob, are you trying to run a 4 inch system? If you are, Rip Rook can get that section you need to go around the T'case.

Dave, since this is actually industrial application piping it is an odd size.

The pipe is stainless steel and the O. D. is 4 7/16" and the I. D. is 4 5/16".

So, it's a bit too big for traditional pre-fabbed elbows and such.

This stuff is gonna be a booger to cut too... it's too big for a normal sized chop saw.

I used to layout this sort of stuff many years ago but it's been far to long since the last time... to make matters more frustrating I can't find all the old patterns and "how to's" I kept around.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask.

Bob.

I feel you'r pain

I used to do a lot of this work while employed in the oil field business. Repairing/replacing/designing pipping on the oil service rigs.

It was good work. Sure as heck beat lying under a semi rig R&R a clutch/flywheel.

Sorry I can't help ya out.

Bob,

There is a more simple solution to your problem. All it takes is a 90* elbow and a 5" hole saw. Just put a stack through the hood:-laf Just thought I would throw that out there as an idea (no I haven't been drinking). I have a section of the SS pipe like you are talking about, but it is a straight pipe on a tractor. Sound great and can easily be polished for the needed sex apeal. There is a shop locally that could do the work you need, but I think you could find something a bit closer. Good luck!

pipe cutting patterns

;) Hey Bob, you might do what I do, I go to the Home Depo or hardware store and buy the cheap pipe for stoves and laundry with the angles that I need, then I open up the part by grinding off the rivets and lay it around what i need. Works for me. Good Luck! Tim Oh by the way, thanks for all your good posts!!

Ackkkkkkkkkk Jeremy you grass grower you... ... What in the wide world of sports would I do with a stack??? egggadddsss man... . I'm a Canadian... no stacks here... . ;):D

I do have a full 5' piece of chrome semi truck piping with turned down tip... but it ain't going thru the box...

Besides, what would I do when I wanted to put the camper on???... and don't say make a companion hole in the overhead either... . :D:D

Geeezzzz, you guys are all over this... ... were's my stick... . ;):D

Hey I REALLY like the idea of using the ole hardware store cheap elbows and opening them up for templates. With a bit of tweaking I'm sure I could make that work... . good idea!!!!

Man this stuff is gonna be hard to cut though..... I'm gonna need an extra leaf front and rear just to hang this stuff...

Pastor Bob... .
