I took the wife out for a first (for her) quick run with the new pm3. We made a short burst on 9, let off the throttle and was coasting to make a left turn when the engine died. I shifted to N and costed to a stop. EGT touched 1300 for maybe 3 seconds before I backed off. Cranks but doesn't even try to start. Check engine light stays on. Nothing obvious. I need suggestions. I am going to go get the truck back home right now. Thanks in advance!
 
don't the VP pumps sometimes go dry after a hard run and letting off real quick?



try cracking a few injector lines and bleeding the fuel system.

I cracked (if you start from the front of the engine) 1,3 & 4. Only could get a little fuel from 3 & 4 not a drop from 1. I tightened 3 & 4, still nothing from 1. I tried maybe 10 cranks about 8 sec long.
 
OK - I tightened all lines and it fired up!



I let it idle for a minute or two then gave it a little fuel and it died. Slowing giving it fuel it will stumble and quit at about 1000-1100 rpm. The check engine light is still on.



Any thoughts?

rkressg - I cycled thi ign like you said - how do I get the codes?
 
I was thinking Fountain Hills... . You are on the west side of the valley I see. You buy all your fuel over at the Flying J truck stop? They have been 20 cents/gallon cheaper than in Mesa.
 
I'm up north. I-17 and carefree hwy. I've been getting it a the local Desert Market for 1. 95 - today it was 2. 04. Sometimes at a Mobil for 1. 99



I just filled up not even 15 miles before this happened.
 
I just took a fuel sample from my filter and no water but it smells like gas! I tried to light it, but it wouldn't light.
 
you cant get codes out of a 99 by cycling the key,that started in 2000. If the PM# was just put on you may have fried the vp44. a lot of 99s would die within 20 minutes of installing a pump wire box.
 
I put the pm3 on about a week ago. I only did 2 short blasts with the pm on 9. 1 after iI installed it and 1 just before it broke. Most of the time I was driving around with it off or on 2. I still have the stock transmission so I've been taking it easy.



I got a scan tool and the only codes I got was P1689 & P0000. Weird. I erased the codes but the check engine light stays on.



I thought the vp would give some warning signs before just going TU.
