temp gauge quit working the other day and i got a sensor from dodge that they said was the right one, WRONG. they have no idea where the sensor is and if it is even that. any help or sugfgestions is apprecaited.

Bandit1,

Do you really want to know where it is!

The coolant temp sensor is almost stuck between a rock and hard place.

It is located on the driver's side head(engine) all the way to the end right next to the firewall, just peak around the intake manifold and you will see wires going to it. :p

i found a sensor that is right behind the fuel canister. i didnt see anything on back next to the firewall. i will look again though. thanks

On my 97 it`s under the intake just head of the fuel canister about even with No. 4 cylinder. Not a fun place to get to.

ata,

That is your oil sending unit. The temp sensor/sending unit is up higher (located in the head) and further back.

Bandit you probably found it . It is located on the side of the head to the right of the fuel filter where the fuel line hoses start to curve downward. Easy to see from underneath the left front tire but hard to reach. If you stand on your tire and look down at fuel lines/firewall you can see the connector (not to bad of a reach).

so you are saying that the sender that i found (the one towards the front of the truck which is ahead of the fuel canister) that is the oil sending unit. and the sender that i need is towards the firewall more under the #6 cylinder? the one i found is the one under the #4 cylinder. thanks for all the info
