Removing Trackbar--HELP!!

Hello all, first post on here. i have had my 97 for about a year. it had 92,000 miles when i got it, around 111,000 now only mods done are to have Jim Jessup reset timing, crank up the boost, and install some new injectors. i somehow lost the cat and muffler a few months ago:D

i have been reading lots in the past few months. i definetly need new shocks. could someone give me the part numbers for the rancho shocks. or is there a better shock?

Also im guessing that track bars are going to be a problem, just put the second NAPA one on last week. would also like some advice on the steering wander. Am i crazy or by the way the steering drag links are hooked up, does toe in change every time you hit a bump:confused:

im sure i will have more questions. but gotta get the thing to drive better first.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the TDR:)

Cant give you any part #'s but lots of people like Bilstein shocks, at least for stock height trucks.

Tow in shouldnt change between tires, there may be a slight amount of bump steer if your suspension has been modified though.

Havent had to replace the track bar yet, only 60,000 miles though on the 96.

4wheelparts.com has the Rancho 9000's. Put a set on a couple months ago and really like them. Will be getting the in cab controls when $$ are found.

I got the Rancho 9000's for the back. It was either 4wheelparts.com or Quadratec.com, can't remember. But anyway the shock for the rear is a 9198. Don't know if it is the same on the front or not.

I put on Rancho 9000s about 100,000 miles ago, set them on #3 and haven't touched them since. They work great, and have polyurethane bushings for long wear.

You are close to TST. They can fix you up with a torque plate for more power, and give solid advice on some other worthwhile upgrades.

thanks, for the info guys! im sure i will have more ????

gonna get the rancho's on the front first and see if that helps some. its gotta. if i looked right the part # are RS9197 for the front and RS9198 for the rear. found that at gorancho.com.

i guess stock convertors are hated by everyone as well. that will probably be next. should i go ahead and do a convertor and trans swap?

Thanks again

Eric
