Have them check the pcm connectors on the drivers side on the firewall. Somtimes the get dirty and wont have good connection. If they are dirty just use some contact clean and then coat them with dioelectric grease.

I would check all the connectors to make sure they are all nice and tight. .

If the engine speed sensor(crank sensor) gets flakey the pcm will shut down, and no pcm functions will operate. Check this first.

I am thinking crank sensor or wiring at the connector. I believe it is mounted near the harmonic balancer on a 12v and sometimes the wiring gets a little screwed up. There was another issue like this a while ago. You may be able to do a search and find it but look at the crank sensor first. If the engine does not know it is running by this sensor and the tach everything pretty much shuts down.

My started acting up so I took the connector apart and cleaned/greased it up and since then it hasnt given me a problem.

But I didnt stop there... I went ahead and cleaned/greased all the connectors just to make sure. .
