You have to take into consideration that the first gen trucks have very little positive caster (+3 degrees) compared to the other brands at around +6 degrees. Anything loose or worn will give the front end a mind of it's own. The less positve caster there is the more the front wheels will want to follow any irregularities in the road. the more positive caster, the straighter a line the wheels want to follow. It's rather over simplified but hope you get the idea.

A very easy fix get a steering stabilizer kit from J. C. Whittney for $50. 00 this is not a band aid it is what the truck needed from the factory

tools , tricks in taking off front hubs rotars, calapers , i ve not done this on the 93 4x4 one ton yet.

Wirenut, i would check your u-joints on your front axles. With it unlocked, see if you can move them up & down. If they look loose or bad, replace.
