Hope you guys can help me.

I have what I thought was an oil leak, that seems to be

diesel fuel. I can't tell exactly where it is coming from but it

is coming around the drivers side of block near starter and dripping off bell housing and blowing back to wet transmission.

Who can tell me the characteristics of what the crankcase breather tube will do? When I notice it the truck was idling in the drive way after being plugged in but not run for several days.

By the looks of the light color evaporated stains on my garage floor it has been doing it for a while.

Am I just not broke in yet, not seated rings etc?

2000 miles, no towing yet (no hitch)

Could it be fuel return line, supply line, rail?

On the previous generation, the fuel supply/return lines were mostly external, making a leak fairly easy to spot..... when the engine was running. As I found out, it is not uncommon for the banjo fittings to crack, but usually in older trucks. Have they changed the routing of the new lines for the new common rail?

On my truck the drip tube is too short allowing blow by to drift back against the drivers side of the bell housing where it runs down and drips from the bottom of the housing. It's identifiable by it's black color which is darker than the oil in the crank case. Could this be what your seeing?

I plan on lengthening the tube or installing a catch can.

It is definately the color, texture, viscosity, and smell of diesel

fuel. I don't think it is blow back from the crank case tube, since I was not even driving it. It sat for 3 days plugged in, I fired it up and it sat idling in the drive for 2-3 minutes, pulled it in the garage

and noticed the spot on the drive the size of a silver dollar.

Crawled under and it was dripping off bell housing.

Haven't had a chance to trace it back to the source yet.

Thanks for help

Eric
