There is something funny going on with my fuel pump, one day I was going up a pretty steep hill in the field and when i got to the top it acted like it was out of fuel so I look at the pressure gauge and it was 0 so i shut it down and bumped the starter and did not hear the pump run.
poped the hood and checked the fuse it was good when i put it back in bumped the starter and now hear the pump running and have fuel pressure all is good for about 3 weeks.
Then when i was driving down the road the same thing happened, shut it down bumped the starter and heard the pump running and had pressure so fired the truck up went down the road 100 yards and the same thing again no pressure.
Then today I changed the fuel filter and ran a hot wire to the inline fuse to run the pump without bumping the starter, the pump had pressure. then when i tried to start it it fired right up the quit, bumped starter and fuel pump did not run. left it set for awhile and tried it again and had pressure so I fired it up and when it started the fuel pressure came up slow, left it run for awhile, then I shut it down and when I started it back up the fuel pressure came up slow again.
there is a relay that the ecm turns on to run the pump so no way to backfeed the ecm. what to look for?
sorry for so long but just trying to explain everything.
