My truck has 800 miles on it and was picked up 2 days ago. This is the second fill up I have put in. No problems with the first. 30 minutes ago I filled up again, 26 gallons to fill it. As the handle "clicks" I hear gas pouring on the ground! I look under the truck where the gas tank is and diesel is coming out, ALOT! WTF! I don't suppose this is suppose to happen is it? LOL. What the he** is going on with this? What could this be? HELP PLZ!

just a guess but I'd say the fill neck came disconnected. Get under there and start checking all the clamps/connections.

or... . stop driving over sharp objects:)

I agree with guava, you gotta get under there and see where it's pouring out of. The good news is you're 100% under warranty, and I think they'll even tow it for free.

Doesn't sound exaxctly like my 94. But when I overfill it pours on the ground--not overflowing the neck. It's only when I I top off and off and off. .

I fill my 04. 5 to the rim and I do not experience any leakage onto the ground. Once the pump clicks off, I can nurse another 7-7. 5 gallons into the tank. That is a significant amount of range that I am not about to pass up. I will admit that this generation Dodge fuel tank is a bigger PITA than the Ford twin tank setup.

Found out what the problem is on my fuel tank. The o ring that goes with the fuel pump is either no good or was not put on correctly at the factory. Either way, that is where the diesel fuel is coming out. My tech is going to replace the whole fuel pump assembly under warranty. They advised me to not drive the truck, so I had to leave it at the dealer. I am not too happy right now. I haven't had the truck 3 days and it's already at the dealer for warranty work and I am without my brand new truck. Anyone else had a problem with their fuel pump or the o ring that seals it? Oh well, what can you do? First thing my brother said to me when I told him, "I tried to get you to buy a Chevrolet. " He's laughing at me now. :{

Wait a minute... sanity check here. There is no fuel pump mounted in or on the tank. The lift pump is up in the engine compartment. I am assuming that you mean the fuel pickup assembly at the tank is leaking?

little things happen, nothing is perfect.

in 10 years you can laugh at him when he is on his 3rd chevy and you have 250,000 on your Cummins and it's still worth $10k:D

rbattelle, you are correct. It is the fuel pickup assembly that has the leak and the bad seal. Sorry for the confusion, this whole thing has me a little PO'ed.

If it makes you feel any better, mine blew a power steering line after I had it for 8 days. It took 10 days to get the part and get my truck fixed... Brand spankin new $40k truck and no loaner, no nothing and they had it longer than I did:{
